hey ugys im starting to get together my turbo stuff. i have a freshly rebuilt b18a1 with brand new stock stuff inside. I am going to be boosting 12lbs at the track, 10 around town and 8 on the highway. Which shuld i use the 14B or the t3?
I have done some research on the 14b and read it produces full boost at about 2500rpm. and is known for the exhaust housing to crack and cause boost creap. that kinda freaks me out a little but what ever. i dont know much about the t3 but i think its one step above the 14b and would be ok for my application.
What are your guys;s imputs? thanks alot!
I would go with a t3. I don’t know much in turbos but a t3 is bigger then the 14b.
Omar!
Luis (kb8thkid) and I saw you 2 Saturdays ago as you were turning left on Azusa from Colima. We turned into the Unocal station on that corner and saw you turn into the Mall. You didn’t even see me
T3 would be best for your application, I would have suggested a turbo from a saab but since you want if for track aswell go an aftermarket item.
why do you sujest this turbo? and why shuld i not get one from a saab?
Hey Sorry about that, i been busy with moving to my new place down the street from the mall. I also have a new job and stuff. Man i would of stopped, if i would of seen you.
How you guys been? How’s the 4dr running. I haven’t seen nobody lately.
Either way I hope you get tuned. When you get tuned you’re tuned for that boost level, so when you raise or lower the boost you’re just completely fucking up your tune.
Why couldnt he just get it tuned at 12psi? Wouldnt it just run rich when he turned the boost down?
Yes, but why waste more gas when it’s so damn expensive right now?
If you get tuned at 12psi it will be reliable… no reason to turn it down. You’ll always have that 12psi waiting to be spooled instead of stopping at 8psi, while still being reliable but wasting gas. To me it makes no sense to turn it anyway. People get tuned to put out the highest possible safe power, not push the limits of their setup.
I was talkn to xenocron1 today. he programs the TurboEdit programs. and he said that i could change the boost level when i i tune it for 12lbs i can lower to 10 or 8 and it remembers the fuel map needed to hold those boost setups. maby i understood him wrong but i asked him just like that and he said it would be just fine…?
It holds the entire fuel map for the boost tables? Well… that’s something I’ve never heard of. I don’t see how that makes sense since you would “be tuned for 12psi” but also at 8 and 10…
