why is it that people suggest getting the 14b turbo from a 1st gen DSM over the t25 from a 2nd gen DSM??? I’ve heard that the 14b has more boost potential than the t25, but is there anything else? I only plan on boosting less than 10lbs so I’m not really concerned with boost potential. For the t25, i understand that it has an internal wastegate. Is there something wrong with that? I mean, i plan on using a manual boost controller anyways so I would think that being able to adjust the wastegate wouldn’t be such a big deal. For those of you who know about these two turbos, can you give the the pros and cons of using them. thanx for any help.
the 14b has a internal wastegate too. on the 2nd gen dsm’s the t25 falls off hard in 3rd gear. the 14b is a pretty solid turbo with a lot of potential. whan i had mines in my talon, it was at 15 psi of boost and pulled hard.
14b:
Pro: holds solid boost in all gears
Pro: has gone low 12s and high 11’s in AWD DSMs
Con: uh… hm… there really is none
t25:
Con: boost trails off in pretty much any gear
Con: horrible top end
Con: hasent even hit high 12’s in AWD DSMs
Pro: uh… hm… there really is none

thanx for the input guys. no wonder i see a lot of people rtying to sell their t25 turbos.
Doesn’t the Nissan SR20DET use a t25 also? I’ve heard that the turbo falls off slightly at the top end even on a stock motor…
yes but its a totally different exhaust housing and therefor flange.
