So the Addco bar install is not going well, but it’s not a failure.
I have to modify the bushing straps to fit in the factory frame brackets as they weren’t designed well, and I am currently in the process of making 1" spacers out of aluminum to drop the frame brackets low enough for the bar to clear my tanabe medallion exhaust. Part of the fitment issues may be due to the tanabe exhaust’s pipe bends, but for what it’s worth, the stock bar fit.
Pics to come when I finish drilling these blocks of aluminum. Sketchy shit when you don’t have a workbench lol.
Installation in progress. You can see that I had to beat the shit out of the tanabe mid pipe to get some clearance. But the bar sits pretty level with these spacers. Makes you think they were planning to send this kit with brackets..
If you used steel bolts on those aluminum blocks it might be worth putting some anti-seize on them. From what I remember aluminum and steel can kind of fuse together due to moisture. I only mention it because I see a bit of surface rust on the underside of your car.
Not a materials engineer or an engineer of any kind so take my words with a grain of salt. Pun intended.
Yup dissimilar metal corrosion is very possible. the plan is to put the blocks in a coat of etch primer after my autocross this weekend! Thanks for looking out.
Bar felt great. I could stab the brakes and send the rear end sliding, modulate and get a little oversteer when I needed it, or stay on the gas and keep everything balanced. Feels great to have that control.
