1990 DB1 auto to manual conversion

Thanks everyone.

Out and about in the city

can’t wait too do mine! hows the insulation tape and glue holding?

so far so good. I didn’t put a boot over the actual shifter so heat is getting in there however putting my hand over the insulation tape feels not as warm as directly over the opening where the shifter comes into the car at.

I’m getting a little rattle from the front passenger side. Sounds like a dust shield or wheel bearing but I replaced the wheel bearing while doing the swap. I’ll check if that was not installed correctly.

On your first auto to manual swap did you find a way to cover the hole where the shifter goes? My teggy is also an auto to manual swap and i want to cover that whole as well.

I hope you figured it out by now, sorry for the late reply.

On the first car I welded the second hole and on this car I taped the hole up.

curious if you’re aware of the differences between the 1990 LS and a 1993 GS in completing this swap? I picked up a pretty clean coupe a few months back am looking into converting it over the summer.

any input is appreciated, thanks!

Damn man, your greedy little bastard friend didn’t just give you the tranny mount for free and charged you $10 for it? I don’t know, man. (shakes head)

As far as I know, the only difference will be the ECU you use but I would do a little more research just in case. From my knowledge though, its the same process whether it be a 1990 or 1993 car.

If he gave it to me for free, I would have owed him a favor later down the line and im not about that life.

question about the shift linkage… do you have to drill new holes for your shift linkage or did you use existing holes to bolt it up?

You have to drill new holes. The nice thing is there are circles on the tunnel where the holes should be (like the hole for the clutch cable). You just have to drill them out to the size of the bolt you need. It would be easier to explain with a picture but I don’t have any.

Yeah I figured that out after looking at it pretty self explaining haha. I didn’t pull my dash out putting in my petals, what a pain the fudge hole.

Holy smokes man, much props to you. I had a hard enough time with the dash out.
