I got a t25, is it possible to set the wastegate for 3psi? And at 3 psi, will I need a BOV or intercooler? I basiclyl just want a few extra ponies with something to build on later. Thx
The only way to run 3psi is to find a wastegate that has a 3psi spring and I don’t think there are any…
well assuming i could find 1, would i need a bov? prolly not right?
yeah…prolly not
Turbonetics has springs from 3-5, 7-9 & 11-13 psi. Of course these springs will work with their w/g’s only.
They have 2 different styles, the difference being how much hp your planning on.
It may be worth checking into.

i don’t think you notice a gain even at 3psi…
TIAL has a 4.35 WG spring. It might be around 4 psi al said and done.

How can I not notice the torque?

Do some calculations and cut the spring accordingly. You will see a bit of boost but its really not worth your time to only run 3psi. You will be happy with 5-6psi. Like I said, you can calculate the surface area of the wastegate plunger, then find the spring rate of the spring and the length at rest, then you can calculate the new length at rest for 3psi. I could not give you the exact calculations but if I sat down for a bit and ran through the numbers I could figure it out, good ole physics.
Its a waste anyhow, just do 5-6psi and you’ll be at the efficiency of the turbo on our cars (just about).

I think you’ll get a gain, but it will be very nominal. What qwkteg is talking about is turbo’s have efficiency ranges. At 3psi, the turbo is basically only going to get in the way of the exhaust path. If you plan on going with such a small amount of boost, get a very small turbo. Still, I’d suggest at least 5-6psi. GL
