You don’t need the Girdle gSR or Z10. Don’t get the injectors either. from the way you described it, you don’t plan on revving it that high often anyways, which means your mainly using this for street daily driving and occasional racing. Since you already have most of the internal parts, you need some tuning parts such as V-AFC, fuel pressure regulator and cam gears(if you don’t have them yet). Another good investment is an ECU upgrade… those common chips help out a lot and plus tuning, you can get a lot out of those ITR cams.
We recently built an ls/v with CTR pistons with a GSR head. stock ECU, stock header, stock head, stock cam gear settings… no dyno tuning. in a CRX DX, was able to hit 13.2 first time out.
i would equivalate that out to a 15.0 flat on a g2- which is amazing - yeah if you put that towards a hondata ecu setup - stage 3 around $500- big difference and full control over everything. gotta have a obd1 ecu
I am going with the Hondata Stage 2 and the car will be dyno tuned once I put the motor back in. I already have a FPR and adj. cam gears. And I think I will go with the 270s just to be on the safe side. I can always tune it down with the Hondata. Thanks for the replies fellas.
are you gonna use the 93 gsr ecu?- I believe the p61? just curious- I’m in the process from getting rid of the pr3 setup and going to the p28 reprogrammed with hondata stage 3
gen2ls/vtec: Yes, I am currently running a stock P61 ECU. I had a Mugen-chipped P61 and with that ECU, the VTEC hit really hard at 5700 rpms and kept pulling and pulling strong all the way to redline. Only thing I didn’t like about it is it gave me a wierd idle fluctuating at times. And the car wouldn’t fast idle during warmup anymore. Plus my gas mileage went down significantly. But other than those things, that ECU kicked ass. I was considering the P28 also and reprogamming to DOHC specs, but I figure since I’m going to be running the Hondata, the fuel and timing maps of my P61 will be reprogrammed optimally for my setup.
Re: $300 left after LSVTEC buildup…What to buy, GSR girdle or RC 270 Injectors?

My head currently consists of the following:
93 GSR B17A unmilled head
3-angle valve job and resurfaced
CTR cams
ITR valvesprings
RC cleaned/balanced 245cc/min injectors
B&M FPR
All new seals and gaskets
My bottom end is as follows:
B18A shortblock
US ITR 0.025 pistons (will give me around a 10.8:1 C/R; very 91 pump gas friendly)
Eagle LS rods
Balanced/micropolised LS crank
B17 Oil Pump
New LS water pump
All new gaskets, seals, and belts
Going with Hondata Stage 2. Plan on revving to no higher than 8600 rpms and very rarely.
Now question is with the money left over, I have the choice to get either a GSR girdle setup (girdle, oil pan, pickup, windage tray, bolts and caps) or RC 270 cc injectors. I don’t know if the girdle would be a good investment in the long run b/c of the poor R/S ratio or if the stock injectors would be fine with the C/R I’m running and avoid detonation and setting timing at 16 degrees. Which of the two do you think I should go for? Need some opinions. TIA. [/B]
Hey your LS/vtec, setup is sounding nice. Could you tell me what was the cost o the whole LS/vtec swap.
Leo- I was going to say that the pan might not fit with your header but I guess you figured that out already. How much are you geting the hondata for?
Aron- I didn’t know the full price was 250 shipped. I signed up for that buy but I backed out cause it took them too long to get it all together. isn’t that piece much lighter than stock as well?
TIroneous- 4drb16a I believe is his name is the guy who is running with 400+whp on his ls/vtec turbo setup.
jerome94560: I would estimate the cost of the conversion to be around $1500-$2500 for the motor parts and that’s including the VTEC head. That of course would not include the machine work/assembly and/or pulling in/out your motor. But if you are an avid DIYer then you would be saving a bunch of money.
Eric: I don’t think I will need the J&S since the C/R won’t be that high and I plan on running an upgraded fuel system this time. I’m getting Hondata Stage 2 for $350. But I am considering the Stage 3 also b/c of it’s launch control capabilites.
nice setup dude…just wondering how much horsepower your making at the wheels…reason is i have an ls/vtec as well and am planning a full out strengthening of the bottom end this is happening in about 2 weeks so let me know.

did you see the videos that AMERIKAN posted a little while ago? About the hondata stage 3? that’s kick @ss ****! How much more is the stage 3? I know that hondata stuff is very pricy!!!
gen2teg: I haven’t dynoed the car yet since my motor won’t be in the car for another week or so, but when I put her back in, do the break-in, I’ll put it on the dyno and we’ll see what she does. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Eric: Where’s that post? I wanna see. I’m not sure if the Stage 3 is worth the extra money for the launch control but from what I’ve heard it kicks ass. Email me and we’ll talk about the price for the Stage 3. I’ve been offered a pretty decent price for it not as much as on hondata’s website and it’s not much than the Stage 2.
