.42/.48 Users Chime In

I’ve taken to saying that a lot now that I have a friende named peter. It makes thigns akward.

s-afc hack, cool, how do you like it, i mean do you recommend it to people, i have a friend who knows how to fuck with it, but then i hear mixed shit about it too, so when i finally get boosted when i graduate, i dont know where to go, chipped or afc, your using it so tell me. thanx

I have a garrett TB06…42/48 off of a volvo.

at 5 psi (the wg setting) i get full spool at about 2800 rpms and it dies out at about 6k

at 10 psi it is strong pull all the way though.

i hate Internal wg’s, they really limit the possibilities with your kit. Personally i would get a bigger turbo because they are too small for daily drivers, low gas milage

jerryjdm- afc hack is not worth it, for the money you pay for a new afc ~$250 you can chip your ecu and street tune it, and it will be Much more reliable.

at first i loved it, but after a while, leaking oil making ur engine bay lookin like shit. a Friday and saturday night cruise would cost me about 2-4 gallons of gas, cruising about 70-100 miles (yea i beat the shit out of it) but shifting past 35 u will be in boost. that is too small for me

why does your turbo leak oil?

its not too hard to shift before 3500, i granny drive my .42 .48 airesearch when i have to, and i get 300+ per tank.

not much to say,

custom mani, internally wastegated. only running 4 pounds lol, its what the stock actuator is set at. it ran 14.2 in my 90 RS.

i gotta get some little shit worked out with my pos and ill be turning the boost up soon.

Thats pretty impressive…4lbs and a 14.2. Stock srt4’s run 14’s flat.

its pretty gutted, no rear interior/ spare tire, no ps/ac, cut up front bumper (to fit the intercooler).

that run was also on a turbo edit basemap. i know that damn thing is good for a mid 13 with some more boost and tuning! :cross:

Sweet…that sounds like my car…fully gutted no interior no spare…etc. I have an uberdata basemap on 10psi. So did you run it as hard as you could the whole quarter? or did u short shift? You have an ls motor right? I have a jdm b16 with supporting mods.

where did most you guys get your basemaps from?

Xenocron did mine… www.xenocron.com. He does great work. Im looking into learning how to tune my own stuff but i have a lot to learn.

i ran it hard as shit, the basemap was so rich that it puffed alot of black smoke (cause i told him to make it for 7-8 psi) but somehow it ran good lol

Yes i am on the .42/.48…my car does rip but im hesitant to run it down the quarter full throttle. Killahteg…you need to have your ecu resoldered with a docking port put in and then xenocron will make you a basemap chip and send it to you, its as easy as 4 screws on the ecu and a snap in to put the chip in.
