90-91 & 92-93 exhaust

What’s the difference between 90-91 and 92-93 Exhausts? and headers?

Is one longer then the other?
Can any header fit? or are they year specific?

The header on the 90-91 is longer than the 92-93 and the O2 sensor is close to the head while the 92-93 is close to the cat converter.

The cat converter is the same size on 90-91 and 92-93

The resinator pipe on the 92-93 is longer than the 90-91 by about 3 inches (or maybe less).

You can install a 92-93 cat back exhaust on a 90-91 but you have to buy an aftermarket cat converter and have a muffler shop cut it down about 3 inches. That is how I got the 92-93 DC Sports cat back to fit on my car.

So if I go with an aftermarkey header would I need any extra pipes to add on? or change?

I have a 90 LS right now, but if I get a new header would I have to add some more pipe to make it longer? or would I have to swithc to the 92-93 style exhaust too?

Just get a header made for a 90-91 and you’ll be fine. Same with the exhaust. If you do that it’ll be a simple bolt-on process.

some one on this board informed me that 90-91 four doors fit 92-93 two doors. I have a 91 four door parts car, and used the intermediate pipe from the four door on my 2 door- it fit fine. That was some very useful info for me- maybe it applies to you too.
