it means that there is a problem with the abs system, and it’s not functional. for the easiest and cheapest fix, you may want to make sure that the abs fuse inside the fusebox in the engine bay is not blown, or that your e-brake/handbrake is properly and completely disengaged when driving.
is your alternator light also on?
also, is your battery dying?
check your resivoir for the proper fluid level. The resivior is on the left side of the engine compartment as your facing it. It sits right on top of the abs pump and valve assembely. If it is low, it will cause the abs lamp to illuminate. Dot 3 fluid works fine. If the fluid level isn’t low. You have something else wrong like a wheel speed sensor has gone bad. Hope this helps!
