ok today, i got a head thats been milled 30 over and when i run the car the raised compression obviosulsy makes the engine run hotter, what dilution ratio and antifreeze brand here in LOUISVILLE ky would be best to get my engine cool as possible, cuz when i ran the car and breifly took the oil fill cap off a small amout of smoke rose out cuz it gets so hot with the compression, Please help
I really don’t think that 30thou will cause that much of a difference in operating temp.
My head was milled 20thou and I don’t notice any difference in temp.
HTH.

i dont think that 30/1000’s could do anything noticeable. I just did an LS/VTEC and put in the pr3 pistons giving me almost 10.0:1 comp i think. The temp runs the same as allways.
I’ve read somewhere that milling a B18 head 20 thou will give you roughly 10.2CR (compared to stock 9.2CR). He’s running 30 thou which would probably bump up his CR to around 11:1 So, it’s a lot different from what you guys have. And yes, when you think about it, that extra 10 thou does make a difference in CR.
Tenzo, I believe you might have to add more coolant into the mix if you want to protect your engine during summer conditions. Around a 60/40 mix…but I need someone else to confirm.

I didn’t notice any difference after my head milling and re-build but I did also use water wetter. I’d try that, just in case.

you need to add more water than coolant. here’s a suggestion, flush out and empty your cooling system then fill it up with one bottle of redline waterwetter, the same amount of the orange colored coolant as the bottle of redline and about 2 gallons of distilled water. people seem to think that coolant/antifreeze is what keeps temps down but it’s actual purpose is to prevent corrosion and to provide a medium so that water doesn’t evaporate or freeze.
Just to throw a monkey wrench into this…

I was told by a motorbike tuner that waterwetter(albeit a good coolant) is not a good antifreeze agent and also doesn’t have good qualities in preventing corrosion compared to Normal anti-freeze. Again, I was only told, and yes, this tuner is selling waterwetter in his shop (hence I asked).
Something to think about,
