Sup. I got a problem with my charging system. Was driving car and the battery light came on. whent home checked voltage. was perducing 14v then it would go down to 11 n stay there. baught a new one put it… all was good till the next day the battery light came on again. its pushing 12.0v then moving downward. i dont kno what elese to do.
This probably has nothing to effect it but these are the only things that can be wrong with it…

most likely is the alternator. Looks like a lot peoples are beginning to fail. I just replaced mine last week.
Honda Alternators have a lifespan of about 8 years according to Honda
8 years my ass! Mine just went out this past weekend. More like 5 at the most.
groc97, did that 5 years have a stereo system somewhere in it? Because honda says their alternators last for 8, unless you have a system, which shortens it to “any day it will go.”
It could be your battery.
Ok now I have about the same problem but the things is that I bought my Teg used with some minor Damage to the body. Later I found out that it is a Reconditioned vehcial and well the Battery light has been on since I have bought the car. No low power or anything just the light on. Had Alt tested nothing wrong charging good and everything. Changed Brushes in the Alt and put new battery in but no change. Any help would be great.

I have a 92 GSR and i think i need a new alternator. my battery keeps dying on me and when i got my battery checked its showed up fine. I was just wondering if anybody knew how much the part is and whats the labour cost??
Never buy an “after market” rebuild. ie: N^pa, Kr^gen, ^utozne. about $110 for labor only. Drive shaft needs to be removed. Worth the $$ to avoid the hassell. Get a “honda” oem new or rebuild only, will cost about $225, or double the cheapeee brands. My aftermarket only lasted 3 months!
