Any questions about compression ratios, click here

Do not post a question about what your compression ratio might be, until you’ve checked this link out first.

These questions are (luckily) still being answered by our guys here, but often times, it can be found using the search at the top right of this screen, or with the link above. Thank you.

good info thanks ,hope this clears up things for people i have a question is the spoon headgasket 2 or 1 layer head gasket???

nice link, but can any 1 tell me how much I can safely cut my b18a1 head for higher compression. And at what thousandths mill will achieve what compression?

The Spoon is still a 2-layer gasket (.45mm) vs. Mugen’s .47mm 2-layer gasket.

tony, you’re puttin pr3’s in your b17? sweet man! you’ll be pretty close to the compression i’ll have with my p30’s. or are you gonna thin out the gasket as well?

probably won’t put them in till sometime at the end of the summer when i have time to have a few days downtime with my car. but i’ll probably do the 2 piece head gasket to put me right at around 11:1 or so.

i got a good deal on ebay, so i bought them.

pistons, rods, bearings, crank (for 112 bucks) with 44K miles.

I’ve got a question. Okay, so on the crower website they have srp pistons that are supposed to yeild 11:1 in a b18c1 ( http://www.crower.com/cat/import/honda/pistons_srp.shtml ) but in this compression calculator I get a compression ratio of 10.2, what gives? I did find one small discrepancy in the combustion chamber volume, but there has got to be something else lacking in this this calculator, or on crowers specs, what do you guys think?
