Anybody With B16 Integra

I am considering a full B16A swap very soon, but have a few concerns before clunking my hard earned cash down. I know there are a lot of B16 DA’s on this board; the more replies the better!

 1) How much oil do your B16 motors burn between changes? Be honest :) 

 2) Name a few cars you've lined up with and beat or were able to hang with.

my dosent burn any oil from what i can see i changed the timming belt water pump and some seals. the cars i sanked are

99-00, SI’s 93 nissan 240 SE,styed side by side a 00 GSR not stock ither,90 LS TEG with cams header iceman and full cat baand gutted cat,2001 civic EX, and countless civics ex and lx and dx dam civics don’t learn, 95 LS teg,95 eclipse GS,94 toyota camary,

Good question DA_Teg, I’m in the same boat as you are, i’m also looking at B20 though.

92teg : Are you running a stock B16A ? I’m trying to figure out what factors make us faster than the Civic Si’s.

A few more things i’d like to know bout B16 in our tegs:-

  1. Is the lack of torque noticeable from your B18A? Or does the gearing do a good job of making up for it?

  2. Is there anyway of improving the torque on the B16A, with cams etc etc? Besides boring out cylinders.

  3. Anyone with B16A, raced a G2 with stock B20? :slight_smile:

i havent raced a G2 with a B20 but i think he would have me out the whole but i should get him once i go into high revs.I personaly din’t notice the torque loss and one of our felow member dman drove my ar an said teh same thing he hasa 92 GS.The mods that i have on my B16 are VAFC, advanced timming,iceman cold air intake,gutted cat,and full cat back exhaust. I raced against a SI at our past suth florida meet i was rigth at his door. Also im runing the stock JDM exhasut manifold some peole use there LS exhasut manifold cause they don’t want to go to a muffler shop and have teh extension made but i did.I don’t know if the JDMmanifold does a diff. any more questions feel free to ask

OH the SI that i raced at the meet had more work done to it than i did.

I was first going with the b20z but they are so hard to find fere , that im going with the b16 …

The swap will be done in 2 or 3 days :slight_smile:

Anybody have ITR cams in a B16A??

  1. Did you bother changing your gauge cluster to match the B16 redline?

  2. Do you have any 1/4 mile times ?

  3. Got any mods planned for the engine?

well i left my stock cluster in place its fun seeing the needle go all the way in the red to 8,000 RPM’s but i am looking for a USDM GSR cluster and i think i found one lucky me. I goign tot he tarck this friday so i’ll post my times then. I hopefully will have my mottor boosting by next yea fully built bottomend and lots more.

92teg: what seals did you change on your B16? Did you do the valve seals?

ok let me try to do this in order:

  1. i dont burn any oil really, its just as efficient as any other b motor.

2)beat: non turbo eclipses, mustang or camaro v6’s, any civics, rsx type s, 3gens…

3)i do notice less torque at the low end compared to the b18a, but once you get past like 3500rpms or so its pretty strong for me. my car has 95 ITR gearing, and it revs high most of the time (like 4krpm @ 70 on the highway)

4)torque adder? boooooooost. that or LS/VTEC or CRVTEC instead if 111ftlbs arent enough for you

5)no, but i raced a lightened eclipse gs which is comparable

  1. i have stock LS gauge cluster with peg @ 8k…i like it in fact because it keeps people who drive my car and abuse it from knowing that they can go for 1500rpm more!

  2. i need to fix my camber before going to the track.

8)getting it running a lot stronger first, then DRAG turbo.

yeah i do. actually i just have the ITR intake cam and b16a stock exhaust cam. if you can - get the CTR cams instead, they are pull harder on the butt dyno.

my b16a doesn’t burn any oil but I am having problems with a little bit of oil dripping from the pan. probably needs new gasket. I can beat most cars I line up with at the light and my car is a 4dr. personally, since I’ve swap engines my car has never ran better. revving to 8k and heal-toe shifting is so much fun.

i’m actually picking up a b16a this week… but i’m considering ripping it apart for parts to build my lsvtec… unsure wether to go b16 or lsvtec… :confused:

Why in the world would you want to swap in a B16A over your current B17A?? Is your B17A heading off into motor heaven? Or are you putting in a B16A temporarily so that you can rebuild your B17A?

I have a B17 thats pretty beat up bad rings,at least one bad valve burms oil like a b!tch at high rev and I have to clean the plugs like once a week. So I’m thinking about dropping a B16 in it wile I build my B17 for turbo and I was thinking of droping some CTR pistons in the B16 before it goes in the car, so does any body have these pistons and due they help with the lack of torque.
