i was wondering if anyone is using this for a boost control and knows how to operate it i purchased it and have it installed in my car but can not figure out how to raise the boost up higher.
I have it, it’s very simple to use boost settings but the hard part is setting boost levels for RPM. let’s see if I remember how this done:
OK your going to go to the menu( if you hit [prev] a few times it will take you all the way to the main menu)
where it says [settings (a, or B)] and you have it highlighted press [next]
It will display boost/duty which should be the first one hit [next]
now it will display your boost setting in (Kpa) it should be I think .60 in there.
you can now move this number up or down in increments of .05’s. I play with mine to see what I can get out of it and I chose to leave it at .70 which is about 10 PSI.
under the boost your going to see solenoid/duty. your going to set this at whatever you want. you really have to drive it around to see what you like. I set mine at 55%. you can go higher or lower if you want depending on your set-up.
after all this you hit [prev] to main menu and go to monitor and select boost and make sure it does whatever you set it at. if it is not at your desired boost level repeat these steps. if you want to learn how to use the RPM based boost, you would really have to know what your doing, and plus I really don’t know myself.
well i figure all that out but for the hell of it i set it at one bar and it only goes to 8 psi . when you hooked yours up how did you connect the solenoid to wastedgate ,did you use the top and bottom of the wastegate
Lower you boost duty cycle.
I basically have my boost duty cycle around 40% up to 4000 RPM, after that It’s 45% to 5000, then everythnig after 5000 it’s 50% I have it lwoer at first so that it helps generate boost slightly faster. If I se the final % after 5000rpm boost will slightly drop off by about 1-2psi. Anything less then 50% and I’ll overboost by a few psi.
I played witht eh egar dependent as well. I got it to work in 5th geaar, but when I adjusted boost for 5th egar, it also adjsuted it for 4th gear. so I gotta recalculate my rpm to speed conversions. even tho I know it’s 100% right but meh.
I hooked the [NC] on the solenoid to the side of the wastegate t’d off with the inlet side of the turbo
the [comm] portion on the solenoid will go to the top of the wastegate. then your set.
(these instructions are per EXTERNAL WASTEGATE operation)
internal is going to be different but if you have internal let me know
here is another question when you did the intial setup what did you do because i have both an safc and the avcr and on the safc the pressure reads different then the avcr the avcr will read say 521 and the safc will read 421 i was just wondeirng if maybe it is also setup wrong
I don’t have a Safc and I’m not sure if it also has a pressure sensor but I know the AVCR does and if the safc does too, hook them up to the same pressure source. if anything go off the reading on your SAFC. I would, just because that’s your tuning tool for your fuel. but make sure that it is the same pressure source if it bothers you to see it off by 100 or so.
well the safc goes to the map sensor and the avcr goes to it’s own sensor that get hook up to a vaccum line
Don’t worry. I also have the VAFC and the AVCR, they both read slightly differnetly.
