arrrghhh!!my fuse keeps blowing everytime i use my system

it just recently happened, everytime i blast my system my fuse underneath the driver side kickpanel would blow after 10 minz of use!! i checked all the wiring, everything seems fine, i have no clue to why it would do this… i switched from 10amp, to 25amp and it still blows… i even used 30amp twice… my amp is mounted underneath my seat, it has direct power from the battery… the amps ground is connected to the chassis… damn man i dont know… has this happend to anyone???

the fuses that came with my amps are 25 or 30 i forgot. but the fuse for the main wire to the battery started out as a 25, then i had tha same problem, went to 30 still happend, went to 35 and havent blown one since… dont change the fuses on the amps jus the one on the mian fuse block ( the one to the battery). jus keep goin till youstop blowing them… or have it checked by an audio shop n see what they reccomend. maybe you have to add something to it for it to stop blowin fuses…

What fuse are you blowing? And what do you have your amp running? Also, what did you connect the amp’s remote wire to?

how big is the fuse on your amp?

i keep blowing the fuse underneath the driver side kick panel ( you know the fuse box that has all the fuse’s running diffrent things in the car) well the radio fuse keeps blowing out =o( my deck, cd player and amp shuts down ( i have a cd/tape adaptor) i blown like a 100 10amp fuses so i increased to 20amp, it still doesnt fix the problem =o( dont think my amplifer has anything to do with my fuse blowing out since it has its own direct power… i ran the remote wire from the deck to the amp, i belive its a blue/white wire but i checked all the wiring eveything seems fine… **** its like this damn car is possessed!! anybody have any ideas??? pleasseehelp!! i cant drive another day without listening to some tunes!!

does it kill your tail lights when the fuse blows? That happened to me and I had to go to the wiring diagram in Haynes and I checked the wires possible of killing the tail lights and it was an extra wire from the harness behind the cd player for dimming (not used) that the insulation came off and it was shorting out on the metal casing that holds the cd player.

you probly have a short somewhere else, maybe a wire was crossed from something else that done. alarm? guages? fogs? i dunno.

ya you got a short somewhere. dont think its your amp drawing too much power… its probably the vibrations hah

thanks for the help guys, i replaced the remote wire to the amp with a slightly bigger size wire and the fuse blowing stopped! whoohoo, but now my amplifer fuses keeps blowing out… wtf is wrong wit this weird car…

I’ve had the EXACT same p[roblem for months now. I have a SOny Explod 760w amp pushing 2 Pioneer 500w 12" subs with a JVC aftermarket cd deck. What I finally determined the problem to be was that the dimmer wire that whiteteg talked about was shorting out on the metal. I taped up the end of that wire, but I still had problems.

Now, I’ve found my current problem, the ignition (accesory) wire from the fuse box to the back of the deck is very damaged. The previous owner cut it much to short, so I’m going to have to run a new ignition power from my fuse box. I’m either going to run it from the same fuse (finding the right wire for that fuse is gonna be a bitch tho), or run it from the male connector at the top of the fuse box-I’m told there are 3 leads, 1 for ignition power, 1 for constant power, and 1 for when the lights are on. I’m goin to do this tomorrow, so I’ll keep you posted.

When your amp blows, is it just random or does it only blow when there’s a really big bass hit? If it’s just going at random, chances are there might be a short. If it goes when the base hits, increase the fuse. I have to run a 70 amp fuse to my amp because big bass draws big current, and big current doesn’t like little fuses.

My guess is you might have a short somewhere. Check the wires hooked up to your deck. Also, like others have mentioned, keep upping the amperage on the fuses till you find one that won’t blow. The fuses are blowing cause too much current is being run through them, which indicates there is a short somewhere - although if you do have a short, it would short out and blow your fuses once you turn on your CD player, so I recommend just increasing fuse amps.

wassup … i suggest checking the power wire for the amp, sometimes, depends on where you run them they get cut from all the sharp metal in the car. make sure theres no cracks or cuts in the power wire or remote wire. if it does tape it up with some black electrical tape TIP: never use the orange wire in the back of the radio for a remote wire, that wire changes from negative to positive when turning the dimmer switch. I had a rockford 800 amp powering two 400w subs. I used a 6 gauge wire with a 60a fuse, never had a problem with it. good luck let me know what happens
