i'm getting all the stuff together to convert my 4 door to manual and am wondering if anyone has done this? do i have everything i need? is there anything i should know before i do this?
things i have so far:
s1 and ys1…which do u recommend
shift linkage
clutch, flywheel, p.plate
manual ecu
5.not sure if i need the tranny mounts , but i got those just in case
pedal assy.
i still need a clutch cable , actually i need two cables one for my crx an one fo rthe 4 door. so if u have one let me know.
one question , i plan on using my original cluster(auto) . would there be a problem? any tips?
You’ve covered the majority. I’m not sure about this, but check to make sure the axles (and intermediate shaft) are the same for both auto and manual. I think they should be, but find someone who knows.
You’re also missing flywheel bolts (they are longer than the automatic ones), shifter, shiftknob.
I’m also unsure about this one (but it’s happened to me before), that the throttle cable was different too. Where it connects to the pedal assembly.
thanks, i have a set of extra axles and an intermidiate shaft , but i think the ones on the car will be ok…i also have a extra throttle cable, but i hope i dont need it cuz that is for the crx, i gonna use an old crx shirter and shift know i have lying around, they will fit ok.
any idea if there will problems with the cluster, will the miles per hour be corect?
Do you maybe need the inside console. I am not sure. I am looking for a b18a automatic flywheel. How much do you want for yours and the bolts for the flywheel.
Okay… I did the swap about a week ago. Word of wisdom… Good luck with the pedals. I had to take my steering coluum out to get to the bolts on the pedal. All the axles and shift linkage is the same. Problems that you will encounter: Reverse light. I have still not found the correct cables that activate the reverse light. Also the ignition key lock on automatics. There are three cables that you will need to cut and splice together. In my car the cable colors are blk/wht (these are on a wire harness on the auto shifter) and a grn/wht thin cable. Throttle cable is the same. Cruise control will not work. Get a Y1 LSD tranny (worth every penny). The front tranny mount and the side tranny mount are different. Good luck
so what youre saying that if you do an auto to manual convers. you have to sacrifice the CC? i was thinkin about doin that to my ls 2door but i dont want to lose anything in the process.
as long as yor pedals have the cruise leaver it will work
as per never2louds car on the auto shifer after you remove the top part you will be left with the slider switch, you need to connect the top blach wires fr the car to start, the green wire need to be grounder to remove the key from the igintion
and if you ground the PINK wire you will have cruise BUT it will NOT disengage when you press the cluch!!!(unless you hook up a switch.
as for the pedals i remover the dash from my never2loud’s teg when we did his only 1 bolt thats hard to get them.
this post was extremely helpful thanks. I too am now ready for my infamouse Auto to Manual swap. the wires mentioned are in teh shift slider mechanism where you select P, R,N,D - S3/S4,2, 1, the wires mentioned are on this slider correct? Thanks
