I just got my gauge pod and my gauges today. I have a question on the oil pressure hook up. You hook it up to the oil pressure sender but where exactly on the engine is that? I was trying to look today but I’m not sure what I’m looking for. Also my friend says I need a BSP thread adapter to hook it up. I’m not so sure about the installation on this so if anyone w/ experience with the gauges, please help me out on this.
its on the back of the engine block next to the filter. DO NOT GET A ADAPTOR THAT SICKS OUT MORE THEN 1/2"!! I had one of these on my GSR and when I was going 130 the vibration broke it and the pressure dropped from 80psi to 20:shock: Just make sure you dont get something that sticks out at all. You will need something that screws into the block, and a T
The adapter you need is not NPT threads. The threads in the back of the block are 1/8" BSPT. You will need a 1/8" NPT female to 1/8" BSPT male adapter. Then your mechanical oil pressure gauge fittings will bolt right into the 1/8" NPT female fitting. Make sure you use either Hondabond or a teflon sealer on the threads. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions.

The store around here is called tognottis…but its a brass fitting. Like I said though…make sure they dont try to sell you something that sticks out…I can say this from a bad experience. And is the gauge mechanical or electric? If its mechanical you may need a fire extenguisher to race at your local drags to pass inspection
it’s a mechanical gauge. Thanks for the help. I’ll go look up some hardware stores and check them for the adapters.
Dan: How did you mount your gauge pods? The instructions said to drill 3/8" holes and use those small push screws but they seem too dinky but that’s just me.
Yes, the electrical gauge hooks up using the same BSPT fitting. You need that adapter for either to work. But if you have an electrical gauge, I recommend you get a braided stainless steel line and remote mount the electrical oil pressure sender to the firewall. They have a tendency to go bad. I had 2 go bad on me before Auto Meter swapped out my electrical gauge for the mechanical. They told me the vibrations of the motor can cause failure. It’s a problem they are aware of.
About mounting the gauge pods, I used two small black screws…one in the middle through the top and one in the middle through the middle of the gauge pod. It worked out nicely and looks better than those stupid “irreversable plugs”.
Hey Dan, by the way I have a Oil Temp and tranny gauges by Autometer. How would i install the senders? Should i have them tapped and placed. and where do i put the Tranny sender?? Man this is confusing and making me upset:mad:
The oil temp can be installed in a “T” at the back of the block where the stock “idiot light” oil pressure sending unit is. Just to the left of the oil filter if you’re looking at the bottom of the block. About the tranny sensor…I have no idea where you would mount that. Maybe in the drain or fill plug hole? Just a thought. Best of luck.
I just installed water temp and fuel pressure and is stuck waiting for a single pod so I can hook up my oil pressure, all are Auto Meter and all are electric. Thanks for the info on the oil I’ll mount that on the fire wall and still keep the factory installed so the light doesn’t come on and throw a code. What a pain in the neck it was to get the water temp to work right , I took out what I thought was the factory temp sending unit but it was actually it was a switch for the fans, it drove me nuts trying to figure out why neigher the facory or the after market gauge wasn’t working. I tried hooking the 2 together and it was all screwed up then I put in a “T” fitting and some brass fittings and now they both work fine!
