AutoZone parts?

Are they OK to use or do they SUCK?

I am replacing my timing belt and bought an AutoZone timing belt for $17. The car has 192,000 miles on it, yet, a timing can either make or break the car. So, will it be cool to use, or shuold I spend the money to buy a HONDA belt.

AND–Someone told me to get a new whater pump too. They said they are only rated to last like 90,000 and i may still be on the factory pump. Should I replace it too, or since I haven’t noticed a problem, don’t worry about it?

Thanks guys!

if you’re gonna keep your car for the long haul, i’d get the original honda belt. the reason why people say to change up the water pump when doing the timing belt is to save on labor costs. timing belt isn’t a small job, so to speak, so changing up to a new water pump while doing so will save for the possibility of having to redo the same amount of work. do both at the same time.

yea, that timing belt should work fine. as long as you replace it the next 60,000 miles.

while you’re at it, you might as well as replace the waterpump too. i mean if you got 192,000 miles on that waterpump. damn thats pretty good. it’s not that hard to replace, only a couple of 10mm bolts to remove it.

Don’t mess with anything but genuine Acura/Honda water pumps or timing belts! I had a non-OEM pump self-destruct after only 27,000 miles on my '89 Civic Si. It took out the belt and spilled the coolant, but I got lucky and didn’t bend or break anything else. This is your valve train and crash can be VERY EXPENSIVE! I learned my lesson. A new factory belt can be had for about $52 and a pump for $55 (non-Vtec) or $88 (Vtec) from A & H. Some stuff is worth the price!

I would go OEM on the parts you listed. My brother had his autozone timing belt snap on him with only 10k miles on it.
