axle boot

i hace to remove the front driver’s-side axle boot. anybody think they could help me?

its not fun. replace the entire axle if youre lazy. or tape it up ghetto style like me hehe

Its not that hard if you have the right tools. Autozone will loan most of them out to you. Once you get the axle out cut the bands on the old boot. Put the axle in a vice and use a large hammer to knock the CV joint off the axle. Now clean the devil out of it. Make sure the “C” clip comes out. You may get a new one to use if so use it. Put the new boot over the axle. Grease the CV joint really good. Put CV joint back on axle till it bottoms out and tap the end with a brass hammer or something that wont screw up the axle nut threads. Once it is seated just put the bands back on with help of an Autozone loaner and install the axle. Install axle.

If you’ve driven for any amount of time with the boot torn and all the grease out of it then you most likely need to replace the axle. If the axle isn’t gone now it will be in the near future so you might as well replace it now. Actually, if the boot on one side is torn chances are the one on the other side will go soon so you might want to go ahead and replace that one if it looks old.
