very good ok so you said you have a b16 in yours?? what all did you have to do to make it work i was just thinking the intake manafold off a delsol and a delsol ecu and it has to have a heated o2 senser
i had a b17a in mine, but I just pulled it out over the weekend. I never got around to taking it to the referee.
did you read that post of mine in the teg tips / articles forum?
yeah i did very good right up ok now here is a question if i get a non obd motor can i make it obd1 pretty easy and run a delsol ecu?? if so i am going to do this i have till june to smog the car so i have some time i just need it in and running asap its smoking pretty bad
my writeup describes how to take the obd0 motor and run obd1… its pretty simple. Its exactly like it says in the writeup.
did you do the b16 motor swap guide?? that is the only thing under the tips??
Its not in the “Teg Tips” section of the website… Its in the “Teg Tips / Articles” FORUM here on the message boards.

ok i have beed doing research all week and gone to the smog ref to talk to him and now its down to can they know what year it is if its a 88 or 89 because my da is a 90 and they said you have to run a same year or newer motor and is is going to matter that it just says b16a and not a3?? and the da runs a egr and the b16 does not does this matter on getting the bar sticker??? i am not planing on getting the bar sticker till my next smog i just need to make sure that i can make it pass because all that is required for a 94 delsol is a 4 wire o2 and a charcol can and a cat and pcv if anyone could help asap thanks i would like to order the motor today if i could and it could be on its way
thanks
justin
There isn’t really any way of telling the year, so that shouldn’t matter. And actually even a 90-91 engine would probably be illegal. I’m not exactly sure… you’re trying to ref it like its an a3, which was made in the mid 90’s (not sure of the exact year… you should find out), but the engine was produced in 89-91. You may want to tell the ref that the motor is the same year as the a3 was produced. You can even have the person selling you the engine write you a reciept that says something to that effect.
I’m actually a little surprised that the ref would even ask a question like that. If you’re trying to say that its the same engine as the b16a3, then I’m confused as to why he’d ask about the year.
i looked up in b16a and a3 and the internals are the same so should i just have the place that ships me the motor right that it is a 90 or newer?? the ref said as long as it looks and acks the same then there should be no problem just smog it as a 94 delsol si vtec b16a3 i am just wanting to make sure that everything is wite so that way i dont get screwed when smog time comes around and that everything is going to be cool
here is a picture of my car still working on it
I would tell the shop to write the receipt like its a 94 b16a. However they may not do that for you. It just sorta depends. Really you don’t need proof of any of that though. As long as everything on the engine is EXACTLY the same as it is in all of their diagrams and what not of a 94 del sol engine… you’re golden.
ok well i ordered my swap today so it will be here by next wed now i am told you have to hook up a vss?? or somthing like that or vtec will not work?? is this true and if so how do you fix it?? i went to honda and ordered the ecu pin tool now i need to find how to get more pins??
