B16 wiring connector questions

Just a couple of questions for my 1st gen B16 swap into my 93SE,

  1. The knock sensor is right below the intake manifold (if I’ve identified it correctly), there is another sensor below it that has a weird connector with a soft boot and two plugs sticking out of it. The B18 wiring harness doesn’t have a plug like this but does have a sensor in a similiar location. Does anyone know what this sensor is and can I take the sensor from the B18 and put it in place of the one in the B16 so the B18 wiring harness will work?

  2. There is also a sensor on the thermostat housing that the B16 doesn’t have. Should the B18 housing be used with this sensor or does the B16 have this sensor elsewhere on the motor. If so, I must have overlooked it.

  3. Any other wiring tips that I may need would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ting

There is no need to hack your Ls harness.

The double pronged sensor below the knock sensor will have nothing plugged there. You will have one plug that will just hang loosely on the LS harness since the B16 lacks that particular PA sensor from your LS motor. You don’t need to connect that sensor.

The thermostat cover from your LS motor should be used. It will swap straight over to the B16 theremostat housing.

What does the PA sensor do?? And what is the name of the sensor that doesn’t have anything connected to it?

Elmer,

Thanks again, you have been a great help with bits of info like that for this swap. Hopefully I can find the time to finish this in the next couple of weeks and get this car running again, it’s been two and a half months already. Anyway, thanks again!
