b16a Alternator?

my alternator crapped out on me, can I swap an alternator from my b18a, and put it onto the b16a?

yes you can. I have my stock alternator on my b16a.

do you really need a pry bar and rubber mallet to remove the alternator?

I do not believe so. I am almost positive there is are two bolt that hold the alternator in. A lower bolt that the alt pivots on. and then the top bot which slides to adjust the tenion of the belt. You should just need to disconnect the wire harness. then un bolt the top bolt from above the motor, and the then unbolt the bottom bolt from under the car. Then the belt should be loose and you should be able to pull it from its brackets fairly easily.

Some say you have to remove your axle to get the alt out though. I have never done this on my teg, i did it when the motor was out. I did it on a civic, and the alt on comes out when the wheels are at the right angle and there is just enough room to get the alt through the fender and axle.

if I were to buy an alternator from a shop, what would I tell them? That I have a b16a 90 integra and I need a alternator for a jdm b16a or alternator for a b18a, I don’t want to get screwed.

Yep you gotta take out the half shaft. either that or take off your intake manifold.

teg2nv said already that he’s using an LS alt, as well as me.

90 LS will do. B-series pre 92. No need to worry 'bout a “JDM” alt.

thanks guys for the help, now I just need to get under that car and bust some knuckles
