B20b vs k20a2

Oh I’m sorry, no I have a hydro kit from hush22 I’m using a jdm v4d gsr tranny from a 98 4 door.
Old body new spirit.

You should get it. Every da owner should go hydro. More trannys to choose from. Type r, gsr, ls, b16… You know.

i really dont get the hype of the k20, b20 is same size in displacement, cheaper to mod, looks better in a da and is easier to fix lol

They are very deferent my friend, Even though they have the same liters. K20a2 is a type s motor and has around 200HP and 150tq. B20b (in my case high cr 9:6:1) has 147 HP and 135 tq. The internals are way deferent. He has ivtec.

Well what you said is not entirely true…

Easier to fix? How so? The most common thing to go wrong with the B20 are the sleeves or rod-bolt-stretch… not horribly ‘easy’ fixes.

The most common thing on the k20 to go out is the hydraulic tensioner… that is a fairly easy fix as it is not internal to the motor.

K-series motors typically respond better to mods than b-series motors do.

The k-series is a newer motor, so you’re much more likely to find low-mileage ones versus a b20 that is over 10yrs old…

It’s pretty easy to see why people go K, to be honest.

I never said it was cheaper… I was just pointing out that the “hype” is easily understood… it is a stronger base to build on, stock for stock, compared to a b20. Easy to understand.
