I picked up a oil pressure sensor but didn’t get to put it in be a use of the rain. Hopefully tomorrow
check your fan relay. I might have gotten stuck and letting the power go through. The strange thing is that your fan switch should turn off the fan after the car has cool off. Im assuming you don’t have the fan switch bypass and its all original.
I’m probably going to just replace all of these parts, sucks all of this shit is happening a few days before I am suppose to drive across the country. As far as I know of everything should be original with the wiring, I’ll find out when I’m replacing the parts
Least it’s not happening while you’re on the road.
Check the fan relay first. That’s the only that can make the fan stay on with out the ignition being off. Normally it should cut off when you turn of the motor but if the relay is stuck ON letting current pass, then the fan will stay ON since the fan switch is activated because the engine is still hot.
That will be one of the first things I check out, i already have the oil pressure sensor and I’m waiting on a rfcm to come in thanks to Colin and I will pick up a fan relay tomorrow. Thanks for the input and hopefully I can get this problem solved in time for my long ass drive lol
If you cant get it fix soon and need to take the drive, then you can do one thing while your on the road. You can disconnect the fan switch every time you park your car and that should turn off the fan while the car is off. You just have to make sure you plug it every time your going to start driving the car. This should be a temporary solution to your trip.
I have a jump box so it probably won’t be that bad having to deal with the fan, the main thing is the oil pressure sensor. As long as I know I have good oil pressure I will feel a lot better on the trip, plus the only time I should stop for more then a gas or food break will more then likely be at a friends if not to far out. This will be the farthest I’ve driven on my own but it will be the last of my move across the country
How long do the fans run for once the car is turned off? I dont know what year your car is, but my 1990 had a sensor on the block next to the oil filter, oil pressure sending unit, etc. If the oil was a certain temperature, then it would keep the fans running after you turned the engine off to help cool it down. I dont think they did it in later years though. Just a 90 or 90/91 thing.

92 gs, the fan runs until the battery dies, yeah the sensor is next to the oil filter also.
Thinking about putting my db1 led wing on since I can’t sell it lol. I’ll probably paint it when I paint the roof of my car
