i have a gel cell. that is not going to be my issue.
so i should do 2 gauge to a distribution block. then does it go 4 gauge to the starter?
thanks
you don’t upgrade the starter wire, it’s not necessary.
just plug the fuse box/starter wires into the distribution box along with the 2 gauge power lead running to the trunk and you’re all set.
Was anyone scared by my little true-life story about the killer battery? If so…good! My POINT was to bring out the safety options for this mod-the first of which was intelligently presented by stuck_in_91(thanks!). The second was presented, as a direct hemorrhiodal response to my little horror story,by Racing Poverty(thanks!)
BTW! Glad to see that you were unharmed from that exhaust mishap, bro!
posting owns me.
you guys want pics for this thred?
Pics are always a good thing. And about the poisonous gas issue; Isn’t the battery box supposed to have a vent tube which is supposed to be routed outside of the car? The box itself should enclose the entire battery right?
I know summit racing makes one, I think I’ll check it out cuz now I’m curious.
Found it!

This one seals air tight and vents the gases outside the car, they also sell it as a kit which includes wires and terminals and all that junk.
If I was going to move my battery I would definantly have to go with this.
you fools, you are neglecting a major reason why the battery is under the hood in the first place, under extreme conditions standard batteries are made to vent poisonous fumes. no joke. When i relocated my battery i switched to a gel core battery that will not vent. (Optima Redtop) even in a battery box you are taking a risk unless you put a racing battery or similar type in the trunk.
I have put Optimas in the trunk of my 91 civic and my 91 integra, and both times i ran 2 ga. cable through the firewall, under the carpet, past the shifter and e-barke, up under the rear seat and over to the battery.
Sorry for the outburst, i just wanted to make sure you understand that moving a standard lead-acid battery inside the car can be more dangerous than it first seems.
Yea, wet cell batteries, when the hydrolosis occurs through the water between the 2 cells of Sulfuric acid, the water COULD vent hyrdogen gas. The way a battery worksm the old school ones, 2 pillars of lead submersed in sulfuric acid surrounded by water. All of the sulfate ions are attracted to one side of the battery and when it is started it sends the ions to the otherside through the water creating electricity. There is very little danger with a wet cell that the water can be drained.
Just get a dry cell and u will have no danger.
what is that green thing next to ur rad?
bucket of coolent i was putting in a half rad when i took those
