best cheap springs

i want to lower my car, as i think it makes it 100% better looking…

first, what should i get to give me a 2.5" drop that will give me the best ride (springs, coilovers, shocks)

please get back to me. i just got one pieces and think the car looks like ass not lowered

hey there. congrats on the pieces. as for springs, i’d recommend skunk2 coilovers ( or any type of coilovers ) just because you can dial in your exact height. a couple members myself included have progress sport springs. it’s not an insane drop, but a very clean drop. if you plan on getting larger rims, and i would suggest these, although with the stock 14’s you can probobly fit two fingers in. I think they are in magazines for around $160, but i gotta deal on them for $110 cuz i knew someone in the business. here is a pic to show you what they would look like, please do a search on ‘progress springs’ (on the upper top right hand corner) and you’ll see a thread about these springs. good luck man.

What can we expect to pay for a DECENT set of coilovers? I am in the same boat as x4evawizex

Thanks,
Scott

Go to http://www.speedpeople.com then look at the r1 coilovers, like $130 and mine rids like gold, thats what i went with, and free shipping.

Hows about some decent struts? I hear all that bologna about yellows and blues and pinks…lol, jk, but I never hear about anything else. I know some of those are hella expensive too. I just want decent suspension, for decent money. I dont race or anything, but I do like to drive hard. I also like the stiff feeling. I wouldnt rule out going out for some auto-x someday, but i still wont need the absolute best. Im just a yahoo, and I can admit it. I am also sick of the 3 foot wheelgap on my car. All your cars look so nice lowered.

Keepin it safe

Coilovers ride like ass. If you want a nice quality set of shocks and springs go to www.inlinefour.com. They sell H&R Sport springs for $140 and Tokico Illumina shocks for around $400 for the set. Shocks are going to get you much more of a handling upgrade than just springs, and the Illuminas are adjustable. If you want to spend some more money on the shocks Koni Sports (a.k.a. Yellows) are around $100-$130 more than the Tokicos.

I have progress sprorts, and intrax on tokiko illumnas ?sp? I will sell either for $75. harp3268@students.sou.edu

There’s always people selling used lowering springs and stuff. You should be able to find a good deal somewhere… I’m getting a set of H&R Race (used less than a year), for $150 CAN. Anyway, just a suggestion.

I actually got suspension techniques 2 inch springs and have been on the monroe shocks someone who had the car before me put on and the ride is decent. Im about to get the tokico illuminas or the blues.

I have Susp Tech “Speed Techs” also and am ashamed to say that I cut them. I’ve had these before coilovers were becoming the norm, and I am still on the stock shocks that I had when I got the car almost three years ago. The ride isn’t that bad at all (for a car with cut springs and stock shocks). I admit it is a little harsh but the fillings in my teeth are still intact.

clarify that…
Did you say you had illuminas for 75 apiece? what exactly is for sale here?

I have the KYB GR2 and Susp. Tech, Speed Tech. Quite happy overall. A little harsh when the road is rough but tolerable. Handles like a go cart now. Front dropped 2" but the back only dropped about 1.25" Supposed to drop 1.8" There are about 6 dead coils. I guess I will cut one or two out this spring to even out the drop. I have about a 1" difference between the front and rear drop.
