1 ft is nothin. last winter my car was like a snow plow because we had a lot of snow one night. Other winters its been up to my hood and i cant even get out of the driveway.
Look at the source. That’s like Phillip Morris stating that cigarrettes don’t cause lung cancer. Besides, stability control isn’t exactly the perfect answer for snow, either. I think it all starts with knowing how to drive in it…regardless of the vehicle. I’ve seen a guy driving a GN through the snow…and maintaining control. I wouldn’t dare try it, but it’s second nature to some. I’ve driven enough Sub’s in the winter to be confident in the way they handle. To me, it is the end-all of winter driving. Shit, I’d rather have one than a snowmobile…even if I only used it as a toy in a blizzard.
Blizzaks +1
Nokian Hakka’s. Best tires I ever had.
Now rolling on Champiro’s WT-60 which is about the same as Nokian, but a bit cheaper.
ok, are the Road & Track tests any better?
my father drove an 83 impala every winter until now. all seasons all around, never went off road. Obviously if you know what you are doing you can drive pretty much anything, but 4 snows are more useful than 4 driven wheels on all-seasons.
anyone have any opinions on the tires that are on sale at canadian tire right now? $40 a tire and $40 a rim. I think there Nordic Winter tire
hmm i just looked at their site and it seems only one style of the tire is $40 and im not sure if it fits our cars?
In ‘our’ size they end up closer to $85/tire mounted but not balanced and still not as soft or as good as any Bridgestone, Firestone, Toyo or Nokian tire. IMO, Canadian Tire for tires is a ripoff.
yea im not looking for the best tho because i cant afford to spend like $600 on tires and rims
how much u lookin to spend? :excite:
you should live here in rochester ny man lol - talk about snow… :bang:
couple of years ago i was at Univ Buffalo at we had 8 feet. everything shut down - but i was driving a DODGE 2500 so it didnt matter any :burnout: i made it thru the snow even with the 90 closed…
you ever look at tirerack.com ? i get the magazine - it’ cool but pricy.
good luck
as little as possible for decent ones that will get me through the winter
no ive never looked at that site, maybe ill check it out for the hell of it. thanks
rochester snow isn’t bad compared to buffalo or syracuse. and I drove out to buffalo the week after that storm, driving through corridors of snow on I-90. crazy.
lol buffalo gets a little more - but syracuse gets nothing compared to us in rochester lol
it was a great storm
ive run with hakka’s and between the snow of rochester and in cny where a foot of snow is considered normal snowfall I have not been let down by the tires. The tires also fair well in dry and wet(ie rain, slush, etc.)
yeah thats the main reason i was going to pick them up, not only are the exceptional tires for snow and ice but they have the ability to run just as well through slush. Around here, thats the common condition of the road in late winter and early spring. Some of my friends have been running them for years and have never been let down. Also i can’t wait to start getting the teg sideways
I used a pair of Nordic WinterTracs in a rear-wheel drive application last year. They worked really well. The tread pattern is identical to the Bridgestone Blizzak. It may not perform as well (different tread compound, as akrallysport pointed out) but in winter conditions the cheapest snow tire is better than an all-season.
whats up boys, we just got a bunch of snow and my hakkas aren’t here yet. but i know the $420 bucks is going to be worth it up here.
just picked up a set of snows on steelies for 208 on ebay…
ain’t no snow gonna stop me now…
