boosting with stock exaust.

im soon going turbo i was just wondering what is the maximum i can boost with a stock exhaust.i love my car being quiet(sleeper).

if you want the sleeper look, but turbo, I would suggest what I have, rsr exmag, my exhaust is so freakin quiet and im not even turbo yet, and from what I understand turbo actually quiets it down a bit anyways, its a 2.5 inch exhaust so its good for turbo, the only downside is that its a chambered muffler so it will cause some restriction, but its worth it for sleeper status

A stock exhaust will cause more lag, and less power. it has nothing to do with psi.

If you got everything stock or close to stock, I’d say keep the boost at a minimal…8 psi is safe without major internal work done, Anymore than that and I’d have to say get your car some better internals…
It doesnt take alot of boost to feel the difference…

My boyz got a LS motor in a Civic hatch boosting 8 psi,
no intercooler, and he’s running high 13’s 1/4 mile…

Dont sweat it, a turboed teg is very quiet, I put a 24" resonator (cherry bomb) on mine and nothing else, the turbo scrubs most of the noise.

Oppps, I forgot to mention that…
Yeah, My old civic hatch used to be so loud, until I added a turbo…It became alot quieter…
I’m planning on boosting my Teg too, but I messed up and got my exhaust done first, 2.5 inch, wow, too damn loud w/o boost…

bigger better exhaust - no cat. more power and yes the turbo will quiet things a bit in your favor.

Reasons being is a turbo is basically a muffler. Supposedly it takes about 1/3 of the noise of the exhaust.

Why dont you just get a e-cutout?

i’m using stock exhaust with e-cutout…

whats “e-cutout”?

From my understanding an e-cutout is basically a Y pipe in the exhaust that once you flip a switch, it electronically opens another way to route the exhaust only this one has no mufflers or bends, or any restriction… It usually just ends about 2 inches from where the “trap door” is.

I don’t know if it blocks the other routing and just uses the non-restrictive or if it just opens both of them up. Probably the second one.

McCord? I thought you had the DMH? I’ll be using the DMH, quality stuff.

nah i’m cheap :stuck_out_tongue: …haven’t had a problem for almost a year now…

lucky you…i have heard problems with all of them though…its a crap-shoot really.
