Ok just bought a 1990 LS with 70,000. I am looking into giving it a complete all around tune up. What does this consist of and what will it cost? I’m not loaded, but i will do what i can so she will last me a looooong time. Any suggestions or info will be helpful. Thanks all:D
i recommend you buy a service manual first. That will tell you how to do everything you need. I live by that book.
yeah i bought a haynes manual, but i’m looking for any experiences or hints, maybe stuff i could do versus stuff for the mechanics…![]()
Look your car over. Then do a search using the SEARCH function above. Most of your questions will be answered in past threads.
Get a Helm’s manual if y ou want real info on repairing/maintaining your Teg.
Important things right off the bat are the usual tune-up parts and knowing when the timing belt was last changed.

You can, at the very least, change out fluids like engine and tranny oil (synthetic would be nice), change out your spark plugs, check your plug wires, replace cap and rotor, flush and replace your coolant, change your air filter (k&n perhaps???)… and yeah, find out if and when your timing belt was changed, since it’s about that time for your car. Uh, that’s all I can think of right now for a “quickie” tune-up… ![]()
thanks guys i’ll chck that out, just bought it so i’m going to get the timing belt done, just in case, i had one go on my honda, luckily nothing bad happened. late:D
