Originally posted by ME What I did was turn the (I think) idle adjuster sscrew, the little screw right above where the intake pipe connects with the throttle body, all the way in, then backed it out 2 turns. My car idles perfect now. It hasnt bounced once since I did it yesturday morning. idle has been perfect every time.
Again, a new (or different in my case) IACV fixed my problem. I got mine used with a used Intake manifold I bought from thepartstrader.com. I spent 50 bucks on the whole thing. For those of you who have the idle problem only when your car is cold, and the coolant and idle screw solutions don’t work; consider getting a new IACV or finding a used one. I am betting, however, that a new one from the dealership will run you prolly $150, I never checked tho so I am not sure.
I have a post in Teg tips.
like deeznutz said, a loping idle can result from alot of things. the time it actually happened to me, it ended up being a leak through the bottom of the charcoal canister. from what i’ve seen, it’s always a vacuum problem.
Someone should make a list of all the possable causes for the Idle problem. Alot of people have the problem and before they jump on the O2 sensor band wagon like I did, they should start with the easy **** like the idle screw, vac lines, leaks, then move on to coolent, IACV, TPS, and everything else.
