I got my Goodrich lines and Hawk pad installed last week. I bled the lines really good and things were great when I did the Hawk pad breakin. I had a good pedal feel that day and all thru the next day till I got off work and went home. Then my brake pedal started dropping down while I was at stops. I took it today and checked the line fittings for leaks and rebled the lines. I bled them as per the instructions in the Helms manual. As of now each wheel has been bled 4 seperate times. After I got done bleeding then I checked for leaks again and there were none, even around the master cylinder. The short test drive I took they did good on. But when I took it out later the pedal went down very close to the floor. As far as I can tell im not using any fluid. Is there a chance I blew one of the seals inside the master cylinder when I was breaking the Hawk pads in, 6 to 10 moderate 35 to 0 stops then 2 hard 50 to 0 stops. I’ve never really gotten on my brakes really hard till I did this breaking the pads in. If it is my master cylinder I just checked online and there $163 for an OEM unit. Where can I get one at a better price?
Yeah, it sounds like either the master cylinder or the brake booster. One or both could be leaking. Have you tried the scrapyard? That might be the cheapest.

Yup. It’s definitely your master cylinder that’s going out. It’s easy and cheap to replace… should only take an hour or two…

Thanks guys. Now my question is: Should I lay down the $170 or so for an Acura master cylinder or will a $60 Autozone part work just as good???
I’d stick with the $60 one. It’s most likely a rebuilt unit. And they should have a warranty of some kind on them as well.
