Update. Today I managed to wrestle off the bolt holding the exhaust manifold hangar and lowered the manifold down to get room to work. I was able to remove the broken stud that was half out the head. Next will to be to drill the other one and try an easy out on it. The studs were not in there with as much force as I was expecting.
a lot of times, once the head of the bolt is off, there’s no clamping force and they do come out pretty easy
I used a crappy pair of vice grips to get the first one out. Had to clamp hard as hell on it but it twisted out without a problem.
Looks like my radiator fan shroud might have to come out for me to get a straight centered hole drilled for the easy out. I am going to try to drill as little as possible so I dont drill into the head which is my biggest fear.
just a little FYI, if you see coolant, you’ve drilled too far.
