I broke my lower pcv valve tubing beneath the intake manifold to the black breather box. And i rerouted by gently hammerin the pcv valve itself onto the breather box and juss connected a longer hose extending out to the intake manifold’s hole. Worked good and i was in a hurry to get her up and running. Now, couple months later, the valve tube or valve itself is making a choaking noise sorta, so i guess my lil rig didn’t work out too great.
My question is, would this be causing me to run rich? I’ve been tryin to tackly my runnin rich problem for couple weeks now…yes i’ve changed my fuel filter, plugs, cap, rotor, 02 sensor. Only thing now is that pcv valve that i can think of.
Any ideas? Oh yea acura quoted me 45 for all the parts needed to put it back in, the hose, sum rings, the plug etc.
Anyone in s.cali care to help me take off my intake manifold?
Our cars have a tendancy to run rich. I don’t see how the PCV could affect this, since its purpose is to exit blowby gases in the crankcase back into the intake manifold. This is to prevent it from being vented out to the atmosphere.
That was sarcasm right tenzo?, cause if ur mockin leave dat off da boards crackhead.
Max, well the pcv was meant as emission controls, i thought maybe it would cause my car to run this lil rich. And since it prevents gases, why does it leak out gasoline?
haha, sorry to sound stupid, but i am dead serious, i had my head off when i put my cams in and i broke the same piece but i just got a rubber hose and put it back together. Now for some reason it blows a little smoke, i was just curious if that could be it or just break in of my valve stem seals.
oh hehe, sorry about that then, bad day for me and i my minds thinking that every1s tryin 2 piss me off, sorry bro.
But anyway, yea tenzo same with me, i took my head off and broke that piece. how’d you reroute it?? Same thing i did?
But blue smoke is usually burnt motor oil, and a pcv valve wouldn’t cause that. You’re head gasket migh have be a little off causing motor oil to seap into the combustion.
OR your valve stem seals need to be replaced. You should have had them replaced when you had your head off the block.
Hondas and acura especially the younger versions such as the first acura integra vtech run rich. If you have some after market mods, this also can cause this. A way to eliminate your car running as rich is a fuel pressurizer, run less then a hundred with installation.
