i get the cel code 43 for fuel supply or fuel delivery… what ever it is. ive replaced my fuel filter, vacume lines, hoses, fuel pressure regulator, new pr4 ecu. and it still wont go away. i kind of notice poor mpg but at hight rpms my car smokes. im burning an average amount of oil just like all hondas and im not loosing coolant so all i can think of is that im running super rich. i get lots of black smudge dots on the back of my car. the vapors that come out of my muffler are really humid. doesnt smell like oil or coolant though. im thinking it could be my fuel injectors??? im confused and need some help please.
oh yea, ive got a new o2 censor too
Check your valve lash, it might be way off.
valve lash? im kind of a noob but im guessing that controls how much the valve opens??
its the gap between the cam lobe and rockerarm.
recommended that you readjust it every 20,000 miles.
over time, the gap between the cam lobe and rocker arm increases. Therefore readjusting it back to oem spec would help.
It decreases ticking and valvetrain wear. Also if the gap is too close or too tight, it messes with the compression.

p.s. try replacing your fuel relay. That is a common issue with g2 integras, my car doesnt start sometimes on warm days. stooopid
lol! yea i had to replace my relay also. im just trying to think of what else i could do to fix the problem though. ill take a look at the valve lash for sure but, could this problem also be caused by really dirty/clogged injectors or bad injector resistor box?
what color is the smoke coming from your exhaust?
well, if you think you have clogged injectors, then that would throw out the fact that you said the car runs really rich.
it wouldnt hurt to check or replace your injectors though. Take it to a local shop and have them clean out the injectors, or do it yourself.

its gray ish smoke. i had a friend tell me that i could have an injector stuck open but that doesnt really sound right. ive had people follow me when im driving and they say its black. i guess the smoke changes from when i just rev it up when its parked and when im actually driving
well, next best thing is to check your injectors. Since you’ve done everything else that plays a role with gasoline.
yup, there is a place down where i live that will clean them too, its too expensive for new ones, they are like 50 bucks each!!! BULL!
You can check your injectors each at a time for fuel open or closing.
I had a problem for the longest code 43 and i found out it was my 02 sensor main 1 wire being all corroded inside the wire so i had to cut and solder etc and ground it to chasis and since then its been fine.
How is ur code 43 coming on? please explain. And when its on and you drive with cel car still feel normal right or does it go in limp mode?
This was me when i had that problem dont know if you have same but give it a shot. I had gone thru so many injectors filter etc and nothing helped took me weeks to find it…
yea thats like the same problem i have. anytime im on the gas for a long time it will go on. did your car smoke too??? i get alot of smoke, its not really blue smoke though, so its not oil. btw, ive seen that video! now i know whos it is.

Wow man, that looks pretty nasty. Is that water saturated with your smoke?
Have you tested your injectors yet? Or performed the valve lash or adjustment? I have the feeling that your problem lies with one of these two things.
Have you tried troubleshooting the code using the Helms manual? That’s always where I start with any code that pops up.
not yet, i hope to at least clean the injectors today but, yea, water is getting into my exhaust, probably because i have water in my fuel, or water is going into the muffler from the huge ricey tip. its not a head gasket though, if it was, id be alot of smoke, my friend just blew his headgasket a couple nights ago on his crx and it looked like he was seafoaming lol!
lol, could it be my cat?
doesnt hurt to check your cat if all the honey comb still intact, but i doubt its that. as far as black soot or like urs on the ground i didnt have that once car warms up so no. but since that video i fix it then i smog the car and passed then i threw in my chipped rom so now the ground when cold is like ur picture lol, but only when cold morning as thats normal…plus a lil rich on the tune.
if u have air leak or even water entering then idk, the closest thing i like to say is 02 sensor wiring like me. cat dont just go bad unless never replace for over 10 yrs, but then again idk.
my old motor was 356k miles and everything that deals with code 43, 02 sensor, fuel pump, injectors. cat i have the same orignal ones with the new rebuilt so think about it i doubt it is that.
Only thing crapped on me from old motor was distributor or all, starter grinds and basic problems a teggy gets when needing tuneups.
valve lash doesnt hurt to try. I also had crower stage 2 403 in and ticking loud on the old motor but was not that … hope ure not overlooking anything… and good luck keep us updated.
Also note that since code 43 is on, you’re going to get that black soot regardless and if u try to drive it around and half throttle it will smoke too. your air to fuel is not mixing right due to the stupid code 43. have you check the wire for the 02 sensor ON the engine harness end and not on the o2 sensor wire itself that was what i meant to say on my post.
Check closely for rusted old crimped lines. its in there trust me
That should have been the very first thing you should have done. Don’t bother “cleaning” your injectors. Start w/ the Helms. If the Helms tells you it could be a clogged injector, then clean them. If it tells you it could be a clogged filter, then change it… If you can’t get an answer thru the Helms, THEN you can start making wild stabs in the dark at what the problem might be.
Hard to say exactly cause every situation is different, but if I were you I wouldn’t even begin to assume that somehow water is getting into the system, especially not the fuel. If you had water in your fuel. That would cause the car to run very poorly, if it ran at all. And you wouldn’t be blowing black smoke, you’d be blowing white smoke.
Since you tested a pr4 ecu I’m assuming you have the stock b18a? I know many, if not most, vtec engines produce that same black speckling you are seeing. And that same puddle of fluid. Some cars do it more than others, I know my old engine used to do it a lot, but I did have some problems w/ that motor too.
thanks for the help guys. i took it upon myself to get rid of my ricer muffler tip so i choped it off and got a resinated tip. and i shot this video of the smoke, some how the quality of the video makes the smoke look more white but in person its more of a dark black/blue smoke. and some white smoke at high rpms (normal). anyways, the smoke turns more black when im actually driving it but heres the video, tell me what you guys think…
