i replaced the ignitor in my distributor and still there is no spark. wtf could be wrong? also i got the ignitor from the dealership and it dosnt mount up to the adapter like the old one. it only stays on with one screw, but it goes in the distributor with no problem. and to top things off, i took out a plug to check for spark and theres gas on the plugs!!! im so damn pissed at my car now im about to get rid of it. so if someone could help me here ,thanks cuz autozone dont know ****.
Of course Auto Zone doesn’t know sh*t. They are not paid to know. So let’s start with how you know your car isn’t getting any spark. How did you determine this?
If you truley are not getting spark, First thing I would check is the coil…not the igniter. The coil is a known “culprit” with the non-spark issue.
About the gas on your spark plugs…if your car is not starting, everytime you attempt to start your car gas is spraying into the combustion chamber. If you’ve tried a lot…you will have gas on your spark plugs. Don’t worry about it. It will burn off when your car finally starts.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Best of luck.
i checked the spark by grounding one to the head. is there a way to tell if the coil is bad? it looks clean and fine to me. spring looks ok. its just been 3 weeks without my baby and i miss her!! i prolly would have been better off buying a whole distributor, but im short on funds so i thought it would be the ignitor.
try the coil
