My OBDI PR4 ECU was chipped with a kit from hyperducktuning. The kit consists of a 28pin socket, PYR EPROM, 74HC373N, resistor & jumper. When jumped (chipped mode) I get a CEL, the engine idles very high, and I have a rev limiter at 3000rpm. I know the programs are compatible with the ECU. I’m told its bad solder, any other ideas of what the problem might be? Here are some pictures:
I would need to see it up close, but there [probably is a solder short somewhere in there, I would send it back and tell them to let a professional do it and not some little kid, because I am not even that experienced and I can tell that is a sh!tty job
I just fixed a friends P28 ECU that had a melted trace (which is caused by using an iron that is too hot) and some cold solder joints. It would run for the 5 minute learning period and then the car would run like crap. After I went through and cleaned it up, repaired the trace, it works perfectly. My guess would be a poor solder job as well.
man that sucks. anyone happen to know if a shop would do the solder job for me (pr4 obd0) and how much they might charge? so far i got an offer from a local guy for 50 but have no idea how good he is.
i dont want the same crap to happen to me =/
If you’re going to West Coast Meet, I’ll bring my solder stuff and do it for the cost of lunch or any meal. This is what I do for a living, so you can count on quality work.
