Chips for ECU's

hey dan, u have a link for locash?

i’ve looked at Jet and superchip

if anyone else has links to sites for performance chips
please post them.

dan check your hotmail, i’ll be emailing you some questions here soon.

i socketed my ecu today, would have had a program in it, but, we didnt have the right eprom on hand so i had to order a couple. i got an experimental program from Katman. and i have another one i bought coming tomorrow (hopefully!!!) so i’ll get to drop that one in as soon as i get it. but i’m still gonna try this one from katman as soon as my extra eproms come in.

and i may have access to a Superchip program so i’m gonna test that one as well
i’ll give my reviews when all is said and done

well i learned something today.
90-91 ECU programs wont work on 92-93 ECU’s

its the obd 0 and obd1 thing.

the guy i ordered my chip from told me to send it back to him and he’ll send me the 92-93 teg ecu program.

here is what it did…
it wouldnt rev past 3300 rpm… it just bounced there.
i also tried the program Katman sent me, it did the same thing… bounced and it hesitated… but it did idle.

i have a friend here in town with a 90 Teg LS, i’m gonna socket his ecu and try the programs in his car. we’ll see how that goes. he has all the basic bolt ons… i/h/e.

i’ll keep everyone posted.

BTW Rick, the program on my ECU only works on 92-93 models. I’m still trying to get the eprom reader/writer at my university but I’ll let you know when I do get to copy the program. Check out if you can take a lot of pictures while your installing the socket on your friend’s car so that everyone can see how it’s done. Then we can post the ecu programs for the corresponding years and people can get to download them. It would be great to have this resource on G2IC.com.

yeah i agree,
i’m getting an XS engineering program here in a few days.
and i also have a P72 Vtec program by RPT.
i have a friend that i’m gonna do his 94 Teg GSR’s ecu so i’ll get some pics of that as well.

it would be cool if i could come across a g2 teg gsr program.
and if i could get a pr3 program too.

UPDATE:

today i got my friends 90-91 ECU… quite a bit different than the 92-93 ecu… i’ll take pics of it before and after i chip it and post here.

has this thing gotten ARCHIVETHIS yet? well it has now :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah I wish I was still at a school with a decent compsci/ee departmnt so I could procure access to an eprom reader/writer. If only this thread came along a year ago. We should start some type of registry with all of these different progs available for download, so those with the know-how can burn their own chips. Anyone willing to send me a couple programs? I have a few already but no eprom burnr as of yet.

90-91 LS ECUs are like a PR3 ECU… you just swap out one chip. The 92-93 LS ECUs are like any 92-95 DOHC VTEC ECU… you need the extra components.

I have a GUDE chip and a XS chip for the 92-95 LS ECUs… the XS really worked well and pulled hard on my turbo B20 setup when I ran a 94 LS with the XS chip. With the GUDE chip, it ran too rich and didn’t drive as well. I have a few XS chips laying around still, and I’m using one in my 91 Integra (converted to OBD-1)

Have you guys heard of Dinan chips for the ls ecu? Any comments on these? I just bought one from a guy.

Chips huh. How about getting hondata. It’s just a chip for your ecu also, but it’s programmable  they sell for real cheap too stage 2 w/o boost is only 330. Check out groupbuycenter.com search hondata.

Hondata has to be programed after you install it in your ecu

92 GS-R #0084
N/A B17 $5200.00 and counting

I quit counting:( to keep my sanity

Actually hondata does not have to be prgrammed after you install it. you can have them load whatever program into the ecu, like a itr, b16 map into the ecu(every dealer has lots of maps even modded ones). You can plug it into your car and it works fine. IMO hondata seems better than any add-on chip cause it can be programed to your engine setup.

i agree with you Ray,
but when i go hondata, i’m going stage 4
if i’m gonna do it, might as well do it right :stuck_out_tongue:

for now these “cheap” but effective chips will have to do.

here’s some pics of the 90-91 ecu… i socketed it… and i took pics with my shitty digital camera… but at least u can see what they look like.

Thanks, this helps a lot. So what program do you plan on running in the 90-91 ecu?

i have a “SuperAuto” program (not for an automatic tranny) the guy was selling chips on ebay, went to his site and paid like 35 for it. figured it couldnt hurt to try it…
i also have a dohc non vtec Mugen program for ZC i got from Katman, he said to try it in the non obd LS ecu… so i’m gonna try that in my friends ecu to see if and how it works. this is just experimental. i’ll keep you all up on whether it works or not.
I’m still waiting for the XS engineering chip from my friend…ohh, and i found out one of my friends here has a Dinan ECU chip… wish it would work in my car but he’s also non obd. oh well, i’m probably gonna try that mugen program in his car since he has I/H/E mods. and while he has that chip, i’m gonna copy the Dinan chip program to .bin file.

i’ll keep u’all up to date.

93integraRS: I finally spoke to a friend of mine who has access to an eprom copier and he said he can make me a copy of my superchip program. What I do need is the chip model and specifications so that I can go buy one and send it to you. Ttyl.

yusuke, i’ll chat with you on messenger…
