Clearing taillights, whats the deal?

ok, now i know for sure.

here is the deal. 90-91’s can be cleared, but they look like butt! See in your pic how there are horizontal lines running through the top of the light—these help disguise what is behind the lense. The 90-91 lights DO NOT have this, the 90-91 lights are perfectly clear on top and thus allow you to see right through.

well, i guess that ends my fun. I’ll start lookin for someone who likes the 90-91 lights better than the 92-93’s, and hopefully get them to trade with me.

thanks for all the info guys.

dayam… jspec… too bad my gs-r didn’t come in blue  everytime u post a pic, it makes me wanna paint my car blue! good job on those lights bro…

did you use the heat gun, or the oven method?

Colin, damn your right! The 90-91’s do have that piece, but thats what has the red lines painted on it. I tried to get those lines off last night and found that there are 3 damn layers. black, white, then red:( Not worth the effort. Also, I dont have that choice. 92-93 sedan tails are not interchangable with the 90-91. So Im stuck using the defuser. Didnt get a chance to snap the pix last night…I needed some sleep:)

i didn’t know that the 90-91 and 92-93 sedan tails weren’t interchangable, that sucks.

i knew something had to be up when i put the top lense back on and could see right back through—because i figured it was too ugly for people to actually do it like that and not put anything extra in there.

so, my project is on hold for now, maybe i’ll get some 92-93 tails someday.

don’t worry about the pic, i got it all figured out, and sleep is precious, so…

I think this should be archived

I agree. ARCHIVE THIS.

I just tried this method on my broken candied 92, and the oven works 1000% times better than other methods… Though, don’t try to do it in one shot. I got impatient and tried to finish it without reheating it, but i ended up cracking the lens… Anyway I learnt my lesson and I’m gonna give the other one a shot… If that goes perfectly I’ll get myself some new 93’s and replace my 91’s…
