Anybody that has a b16a with a S1 tranny maybe you can help me. Ever since I’ve gotten my swap, when I ease the clutch down for 1st gear, I get a semi-loud clicking sound or two somewhere from under the hood. But when I’m already going and I shift to second (or other gears) it doesn’t make that noise. Any one know or heard of anything like this? It’s annoying as sin everytime I have to start from 1st all the time.
I have a stock G2 93 LS teg and I just started getting this sound. I figuered it is a bad clutch pilot bearing especially since my clutch is already going very bad.
The click comes before the gear is actualy engaged and power is transfered to the wheels.
That’s odd that it does that only on 1st gear though. So replacing my clutch is the best bet? Or get new bearings?
Where in Austin?
akirax: Are you around the UT area? I rarely see any fixed up tegs around here. Just wondering… I live around UT (west campus)
I can’t confirm to you Akirax. Mine makes the noise most evidently on first, but it could be making the noise on other gears but it will be hard to tell (since we are driving!!)
I’ll be changing my clutch sometime next week. If I find the bearing damaged or understand better why the noise is comming I’ll be sure to inform you.
Ciao…
93LS: What’s up? I live on the north side of town, I-35 and Parmer. I don’t see that many fixed up Tegs here either. We should meet up or something sometime. Hey, have you heard of that import meet at Circuit City every Saturday at 10pm? I went there a couple months ago but no one was there. I heard that it was moved to the HEB on Research. Is that right?
Armandy: Yeah, I agree with it being evident on first. Email me or something and let me know. I want to fix it cause it’s driving me crazy ![]()
I just put in a new clutch and I’m getting a similar noise at the same time, except mine is more like a thunk than a click.
Phil
man, well, mine is not like thunk…just a semi-loud click. Hope you fix your problem.
I’ll be crawlin’ underneath it tommorrow.
Phil
daaam i hear that “click” too…1st 2nd 3rd gear:(
I don’t know if this would apply since you had a swap, but here goes:
I heard from a friend that use to work at an Acura dealership as the warranty guy that some of our G2 Tegs may have a knocking sound (may be a “clunk” sound) after shifting (but the sound is not from the transmission). This is caused by the cv joint. There can be 2 causes if this is the case…
- Lack of grease inside the boot.
OR
- You need a thicker type of grease inside the boot. (sorry, but I didn’t catch the Part No. on the grease)…
Hmmm…could be the case since one of my CV boots were busted and grease leaked all over my wheel. I put a new boot on but could’ve been the grease issue. I’ll check into that.
I just changed my inner CV joint, the outer is making noise and I"ll change later.
However, I get the click just by disengaging the clutch without anymovements forward! So in theory, there is no force on the CV joints anyways…
You know, you could be right, I’ll double check on that.
