I just installed a new exedy organic face clutch assembly. What driving techniques, and for how long, am i suppose to drive to let the clutch set properly? Thanks!
Stop and go with no hard shifts or launches. You want to take it easy on it for a while.
I dont know about the Exedy break in period, but I would assume that it is around 500 miles maximum to break it in.
My Centerforce Dual Friction recommended 450-500 and I took it over 500 to make sure it was broken in good.

thanks man

Hey, I know this is an old post but I have a question about the
break in period and the type of driving required.
Do you know if it matters if the 500 mile break in period is
done on the highway?
Highway miles don’t count, unless you’re in one helluva traffic jam. You need 500 miles worth of easy clutch engagement to properly break it in.
thank you
Im a firm beleiver in “better safe than sorry” so by all means, break in your clutch, but a reputable shop around here has had a stage 3 CM in thier 600 HP CRX many times, and swear that the have never broke it in. When i asked about how many times have they done this, they replied “with all of our cars” …thats 20+ race and daily driven cars…no probs…anyone else hear of this?

I have heard of this and I also know a couple people who have pulled it off, but when it comes down to you spending $500 on a clutch, you want to make sure you will have it for the long haul.
I ALWAYS recommend people break in their clutch, especially when I install them.
