My car will be mainly for daily driving / commute, with “spirited driving” on the weekend, plus the occasional weekend at the strip. I really like the idea of a stock b20 with new valvesprings / retainers and 403 cams (texas is implementing smog tests next year, i may get around that and register my car out of state) I’d like to keep my options open for future boosting without too much trouble. Torque is important to me, I like how my b18 can zip me thru traffic with relative ease.
My decision is a b20 with cams, valvesprings, stock bottom end (I wont be revving past 7k) and your basic i/h/e to start…suggestions/comments?
What kind of numbers would I be looking at with this NA b20?

Can you boost a b20 with stock internals to 8-10 psi without troube?
If you’re ultimately going to boost it, you probably don’t want to get the 403’s or any other high lift cams because they don’t do so well with boost. Stock cams would probably be better. But, get the springs and retainers and raise the redline anyway.
Good point, there arent a lot of Non-VTEC people out there, But i’m saving my b18a for another chasis, maybe a civic hatch, or a crx or something, I can always re-use the 403/4’s in that.
Either way, I can get 400 dollars of use out of 403/4’s for the year or so it’ll take me to save for a DRAG kit.
I bought CTR cams brand new from Honda and after my engine went Kaboom (from boost not the cams) I have been sort of trying to sell them. I kind of want to sell them, but then again, I don’t care if I do because I may do the same as you and get a hatch for my B17.
I think I got my moneys worth from the CTR cams the first time I hit VTEC at WOT!!!:whoa:
