correct b16a launch

what are you guys with b16a’ launching at? i try to feather at 3 but i either get wheel spin or bog. …? -Dan

Dan when I got my 15.7 in my LS I was launching around 3.5k or so, a little wheel spin isn’t bad, its actually better than bogging, I don’t know if launching at 3k is really optimal for that motor because of the lack of torque.

launch as high as you can, but not too high for wheel spin and not too little for bogging. But 3-4k is usually good

i usually launch at about 3…i want to go higher, but ill snap my axels, or motor mount:(

you guys are talking about just putting the tach to 3 grand or so and then when you want to go, just completly release clutch? -Dan

i dont know what the hell feathering means, but i usually let it almost all the way out then immediatly let it the rest of the way out. i do that to prevent it from snaping my sh!t, and to prevent spinning as much as possible…works pretty good, and i usually just get i little chirp…(anyone wanna let me know wtf feathering means? i hear it on here all the time.)

For a proper launch from first gear DO NOT POP THE CLUTCH.Experiment with the rpm.On the civics I have found that around 3500-4000 rpm is best.Just let the clutch out slowly maybe take a full second to release it as you are giving it gas. After that pop the clutch from gear to gear if you use the clutch at all after that.IMHO

how about on a built ls/vtec? hmmm- just curious

ok feathering in my words is using the clutch gently instead of completly releasing it. so progressivly monitering your launch while letting the clutch out. hmm too confusing? sorry. -Dan

ok i get what your saying…kinda like what i already do then huh?

that sux. once i was doing about 70 and i dropped it into 3rd to pass a car and BOOOM! i snapped the motor mount bolts which dropped the engine down a little to much and snapped the drivers side axle…that sucked bad, and i was an hour away from home.:frowning:

I was in st. kitts, I had to get a tow (mind you I was rolling backwards on a overpass and someone had to push me)

And the tow truck driver ripped the front bumper lip half off my car (which I am hopefully fixing tomorrow) because they didn’t have the flat bed available for 3 hours (3 hours I wasn’t going to sit on the overpass)

and because my front end is lowered 3.5" at the time it got ripped

oh and my rear tow hook is beat to f-ck because it bounced off the road the whole way home (25mins) luckily it was there or my exhaust would of gone bubye along with my rear bumper which was DANGEROUSLY close to ground as tow hook bounced…
