I’ve been asked to make the screws and caps that keep the cowl secured to the windshield white plastic bolts. I’ll look into this ASAP.

I did a test fit, unfortunately the little arms do NOT grab the center bolt that’s already on the car. I’m off by 1mm. Will need to adjust the model, reprint, and try again.

Printed twice, both adjusted. Still won’t grab and seal. I think it is to do with the dry-rot of the already-old cowl grommet on which the cover screws attaches.

I’m going to purchase a NEW cowl grommet and then make a 2-set piece that will work together.

Geez. So after buying the parts 11 days ago, it finally shipped yesterday. The parts must’ve been hard to source. It’s probably a good idea to be going this route of doing the 2-piece set.

The part arrived, and I test-fitted my current design’s screw on it and it’s NOT fitting at all. The little tabs won’t engage properly with the screw, so I’m going to keep the outer surfaces and redesign that mating/tapped surface. What I’m worried about though is that movement that is needed on the screw part, because that gets adjusted on the fly when fastening the cowl. It’ll take some effort for sure.

I’ve begun a totally new design on this, but it needs some work on making sure I get the torque forces properly handled. Pics probably this weekend.

I bought the whole cowl kit set up that was in that cowl leak format many years ago, and when that LS died I failed to pull those cowl parts for my GS. Bad bad move.

Since then though I have also gained some AutoCAD skills but haven’t ventured into making anything quite like this or 3D printing although. I have made a pdf template for cutting fenders to add side marker lights. That was pretty straightforward.

You have good timing @Db2juju (Also, welcome)

This is the current cowl mount “bolt” with the screw cover that holds the cowl down.

 ![image](https://forum.g2ic.com/uploads/default/original/2X/3/3fce0116ff55cc00b287b33c93322b814fb33b0f.jpeg)

I’ve been unsuccessful with getting the two to mate properly.

So here’s my idea. Recreating the bolt but allowing a spot for a metal hex sleeve to fit inside.

 ![image](https://forum.g2ic.com/uploads/default/original/2X/a/ab48029834e9ea4150954589418a19201c5aef99.png)

A sleeve like these:

 ![image](https://forum.g2ic.com/uploads/default/original/2X/7/76c8587b2d74e8cd5cda3af7f7fc791246dbe4f3.png)

And then a flanged bolt with a nylon washer (perhaps) to secure the cowl down.

 ![image](https://forum.g2ic.com/uploads/default/original/2X/0/06e535061cc503d47dd64707cb6a333edacf9d96.png)

I will then make a cover that fits into that flange bolt so it mates with the outer surface of the cowl.
