Don’t really see how it’s overkill. If he tracks or races the car at all then it’s just what he needs. It seems like a good idea to me. Don’t really need to look away to see how the car is running. Great job on the cluster. I could see myself looking into doing something like this someday.
x2, good job man!
Love it. I’m all about doing something different on DA’s! Great job.
Thanks guys yeah my DA is a race car and thought about this mod for the longest time and wanted something clean to mount the gauges and I think they are perfect in the cluster.
very clean and original!
I bet that defi tach is hella expensive if I’m not mistaken. But regardless is a brilliant upgrade for any die hard race car enthusiast. I want…
i guess you dont want to share the info how its done?
I’ve thought about doing that a few years ago. Now I know more or less how it would look. Looks good.
There was a lot of cutting and hacking on the cluster just to make the guages fit and I had to make a paper template of the size of each gauge and lay it out on the cluster and made sure it fits the trim and clears the cover when you put it back together. Took a good amount of time and slow hacking just to make sure I don’t cut too much or your gonna need another cluster to work on. The carbon look is just a 3M sticker to cover up what I cut and make it look clean and decent.
For the Digital Speedo I used a DC2 speed sensor and my tranny has ITR guts with YS1 housing. I think to make it work on stock DA tranny you will need a speed sensor from a 4th Gen Accord if I recall since they are electric and have the same VSS spindle gear size as our stock DA but don’t recall anymore since I’ve done this mod 5 years ago and would have to look at my research back then.
The wiring part your gonna have to pull from the service manual wiring diagram and look where to tap the tach. The digital speedo goes to the sensor plug directly. You might have to solder a few connections at the back of the cluster to make the indication lights work if you do end up cutting or breaking the connection cause some of them will be in the way once you mount your gauges. You really need to prepare and plan for this mod and know where your electrical connections are before you start to prevent damage on the cluster or harness. The water and oil gauges are easy since they have their own sensors that goes in the engine bay and wiring plugs directly to the control unit where I have mounted on the bottom of the radio.
If you are crafty and feel comfortable with wiring then this should be a piece of cake to do all it takes is a good preparation and planning on where you will mount the gauges and electrical wiring then you are set.
this shit is fukin boss
very freakin cool.best cluster i have ever seen.good stuff man…
…damn!
