The tach in my 1992 GSR has a bit of a bunce to it after I drive the car for a long time on the highway under partial acceleration. The problem comes and goes.
I looked under TEG TIPS for the “bouncing tach fix” and it said that the wires in the distributor may be touching and will throw a code 15. Only thing, WILL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON WHEN THE CODE 15 IS ON? My check engine light didn’t come on.
My car runs excellent, extremely smooth with no hesitation.
try the teg tip anyway…it willonly cost about 2:80 for the dielectric grease and it does work. it wasn’t that wires were touching but rather that the wires weren’t touching good enough. I had so much bounce i couldn’t even read what rpm’s i was at. then i used the dielectric grease and my problem was gone
NO it doesn’t. I have had my ECU give me 2 different codes and the check engine light never came on. I think that only with certain codes the check engine light will come on.
My check engine light will come on randomly. Nothing out of the ordinary is going on, it doesn’t feel different. Just every couple of weeks it will come on. I’ll turn off and restart the car and it’s gone.
My tach bounces ocasionally too. If I keep the car a constant throttle, it starts making this constant bu-bu-bu-bu farting noise and the tach starts bnouncing
I’m gonna check all connections tomorrow in the distributor and the 2 connections outside the distributor. An Acura-tech told me to check the 4 connections the ignitor attaches to as they may come loose or not have been installed properly in the first place.
If the problem is still there probably just get a new Ignitor.
MINE WAS JUST REPLACED 20K ago though, (kilometers too; not miles!)
