2 inch speaker next to dome light
Thought I’d share a couple photos of my “homemade” map light that I installed about 6 years ago in my '90 RS. I couldn’t find a used maplight assembly at the junkyards, so I installed another dome light by the rearview mirror. It may look a little odd, but it works great and provides tons of light at night. I ran the wires under the headliner to the original dome light.

Thanks. Back in 2002 I never expected I’d still have this car in 2008. (Otherwise I may have made an effort to get the real map lights). But the car is nearly maintenance free and runs so well I just keep driving it–and driving it, and driving it. Not much interest in making payments on a new car. Getting close to the 235,000 mile mark now. Settling in for the final 65,000 miles. (I’m dumping the car at 300,000 miles!) Will be interesting to see how this goes.
