Dumb question, how do I remove rear wiper?

Damn, I thought the rear wiper can be removed as the windsheild wiper. I took them out to repaint them and then I popped the cover off of the rear wiper and took out the screw. Obviously it does not come off like the windsheild wiper does, so I tried to pry it off lightly with a screwdriver and still its stuck on there! Anyone have any tips for me? Thanks dewds!

  1. Remove the cover (you already did this)
  2. Remove the nut holding the wiper arm down (sounds like you already did this as well)
  3. Remove wiper arm. It will put up a little bit of a fight, but it will come off. Try lifting the wiper arm up and letting it bend where its meant too. Us the arm for leverage to get the base of the arm off the threaded post. If that doesn’t work then wiggle it back and forth, and give it some good yanking. It should come off pretty quickly.

Oh, and when you paint your wiper arms remember to use a “semi-flat” black. Flat looks too chalky, and gloss just looks cheesy. Semi-flat black looks really nice, and unlike the gloss won’t make the wiper arms stand out.

Thanks. I just thought maybe there was a special way to remove it. Cuz damn its like stuck in there really really tight then. I need to try much harder now. I actually left some little scratches on the base of the wiper from trying to pry it off with a screwdriver.

I did paint my windsheild wipers already. I used some black primer I had left over from my other projects. Yes, it is chalky (now that you have mentioned it) and semi flat should make it look back to factory I hope. So since I never took my rear wiper off I got bored and used my black 'marks a lot' marker to color it in. Now it looks sorta like anodized black and I really need to get that semi flat now! Thanks for the help. Peace.

why do you even need to remove it from the car to paint it?

jus aim it straight up so it looks like the antennea and mask off a good section of your car with some newspaper, and of course masking tape, around the part that connects to the window. and than jus spray away my friend. or you could be cool and jus leave the whole thing off and install a plug where the hole in your glass is. jus looks cleaner IMO…

I’d recommend taking them off to paint them (I did my fronts) because you certainly don’t wanna get overspray on your car and plus it’s probably faster to take them off than it is to mask off half of your car.
