E.S. Motor mount help, Quick!

hey
does anyone have some tips on what the hell is wrong with mine. i have installed a set of these on my 00Si, and was not near is hard, but this is a bitch, im trying to do it right now. and i got all but the rear. i dont even see a fesible way of taking it off. but heres the real kicker. the instructions that came with mine must be wrong or something, bc only 2 of the 3 fit. the set for the rear, and for the driver side, had to be split, and i have called summit racing ( where i purchased them) but they just told me to call e.s. does any one know, especially the part numbers that way i can really compare,

help me please guys, my car is in the middle of the rode, and its bout time to go head hunting hahaha

thanks
adam

Adam,

They must have changed the inserts since I bought mine two years ago. The set I bought only had front and rear inserts. I will have to say that I never was able to get the rear inserts in until I took the tranny out to replace the clutch. I worked for hours trying to get the inserts in before removing the tranny and was not able because as I’m sure you’ve found, the bracket just will not move that extra inch so you can pull the mount out or even enough to slip the inserts in. I would just go with whatever you have put in so far and try to put the rear in whenever you have time to pull the trans.

A word of caution though, I drove with just the front insert in for a while and started racing that way and the stress from the launches eventually ripped the driver side mount apart during a launch. This proceded cause the wheelhop from hell that destroyed my differential and left me at the track stranded. So the bottom line is to make sure that the rest of the mounts are good because when you strengthen only one or two, the others end up flexing even more, and unfortunately in my case, they could break.

you know you are right, that bracket wouldnt hardly move even after i unbolted all the bolts. but i wondering something now, you know the transmission mount on the passenger side, im not sure how to get to it yet not really looking at it, but i wonder if thats where they intend on this other mount to go, bc the inserts seem as they would fit there, let me know
thanks for your help

Adam,

I am assuming that you are talking about the trans mount that is hidden by the battery mount. This mount didn’t come with any inserts in the set that I bought, but again, that was quite a while ago and they may have changed what they offer. If you really want a secure motor, buy the Place Racing solid polyurethane mounts. They are fairly expensive but I love the way they secure everything. Good luck.

Part # ES16-1109 for the 1990-93 Integra
Only comes with two motor mount inserts.

Part # ES16-1106 for the 1994+ Integra
The 1994+ motor mount inserts are a different part # than the 1990-93 motor mount kit and come with either 3 or 4 motor mount inserts.

being that your kit only came with two mounts and my instructions have the same part number on them, why do i have three? this is weird, i didnt get a chance to call e.s. today but ill be sure to tom.

but if your kit came with 2 which 2 of the 3 is it?

and thanks for the tip about that other company, ill definitely keep them in mind if i cant get this figured out.
thanks everyone, but ill call tom, and let everyone know how it comes out

thanks again

hey guys,
aight heres the deal i called e.s. today, and apparently there are two different kinds of motor mounts for the rear, so im just supposed to match them up, and the others i guess i just disregard.

NOw, i need to know how to get to the rear mount i didnt have much luck from the top side, so how did you guys put yours in?

thanks for all yalls help

old thread but its aok!

I was wondering the same thing because I have three mounts and only 2 seemed to fit, which were the driver side mount (or the passenger) and the front mount.

I had the last one left, but I tried putting it in the rear motor mount and it didn’t fit at all. So what I had to do was remove the tabs on the bottom of the mount and make it smaller so it would fit in the small rear bottom section of the mount. That fixed it and its all in.

I really don’t like them though becuase they make the car shake like crazy at low idle. This is E.S. bushings I put in and I only have the driver, front, and rear mount installed.

The ES kit does NOT INCLUDE inserts for the side mounts. There are 3 sets of inserts. However, I believe one of them is made specifically for EF civics. The kit is only meant to fit in the front and rear mounts.

the kit I bought was for the 1990-93 teg and came with mounts for the sides cuz those things wouldn’t fit anywhere else. The directions weren’t very helpful at all.

I got the Part # ES16-1109 last week and the package came with 6 inserts. Two of them fit the front mount, two would fit on the driver side mount, two should fit the back tranny mount (I didn’t have that installed yet). Is this what you all have?

Looking at the passenger side mount, it’s a different shape than everything else. It is bigger than all other mounts. Is that supposed to be like that? I’m assuming that part will need a separate part number from energy suspension? Anyone has an insert there?

If I only have the front and driver side inserts put in, would that cause problems in the future? I do autocross…

Mine came with 6 inserts as well. No it shouldn’t give you a problem with just the two.

Where do you autox? I do the Sacramento SCCA chapter and Monterey Nasa. I can finally have another g2 out there with me! If you go to the SCCA do u know the upcoming schedule? Nothing in july right?

Just out of curiousity, will any of the mounts in the 94-01 integra kit (16.1106) work for our cars?

EDIT: I ask because the motor swap write up basically says our mounts are identical but i’m curious why the kit would be different.

The mounts are identical? My gf’s 96 Integra’s motor mounts look waaay different than mine.

I know that this may be a little off the subject, but honestly, I would not depend on those inserts. What I would recommend is making your own polyurithane motormounts. I have them on my car and they are AWSOME!!! The only problem is that you need to let them cure for 3-5 days. I have no wheel hop and there is minimal engine shift. Here is a link that may help you. http://importnut.net/motormount.htm
