So i did a compression test the other week and the numbers are

my car has 223k original miles and runs strong, im curious to know if 140-150 psi(measured in inchs i believe) is good numbers? i know some people have higher compression then that, stock.
what is the ‘out of the factory’ compression for b18a(92-93)?
According to my haynes manual it is 184 new and should be no less than 134. my engine has 242,xxx on my '90 and i got about the same numbers. While discussing an issue with the local Acura dealer their head tech said those numbers were alright (based on mileage that is).
so of course yes they are a little on the low side, considering your mileage not bad. nothing to be extremely concerned with. i’ll be rebuilding mine this winter just because and also cause i have future plans.

You can use a product called Restore. I’ve been using it for a while after enough people had ragged on me about it, and I have to say it’s been working wonders so far. In a nutshell, it helps to smooth out your cylinder walls. Takes a couple hundred miles to start working completely into the walls. Pretty cheap too, give it a try. Gives your motor some extra life before you swap it out or rebuild it
Only add restore if you have serious drivability issues and an engine rebuild is the only other option. If your engine was bone cold your numbers are just fine; warmed up would be higher but still proportional.
when i did mine mine was cold warm the numbers were only 5-10 higher i believe so you’re not to bad off.
my .02…if it runs fine now no apparent issues, then dont change anything and if you want to fix it or invest in the repair of rebuilding then go ahead. if you’re mechanically inclined it can be done reasonably cheap. if not and a shop has to do it then its cheaper to just find a good used motor with warranty and have it installed.
