engine mounts

my 90 rs shakes like crazy. mechs tell me i have to change all 4 mounts. parts over $200. labor $250.
this is insane for 4 pieces of water filled rubbers. what do you guys think? any suggestion on cutting down the cost? i’m looking into recyclers for the mounts. i might as well do it myself.

That’s pretty cheap considering the driver side mount is $191 out the door from my local acura dealer. My guess is the engine mounts he’s putting in aren’t OEM honda. If you ask me don’t cut corners when you’re doing the engine mounts. It’s better to spend once and don’t have to replace them again til the next decade.

You would have to drop the engine to get to the passenger side engine mount. The driver side and front ones are easy to replace. The back one, i haven’t tired yet. HTH

anyone tried replacing the mounts? please share your experience.

one of my hook ups is gonna put in motor mount inserts for me this weekend for 40 bucks. they can’t possibily make my car shake more at idle thann what it already is. i thought abour repalcing the mounts that way i can’t get rid of alot of the rattles but since i already got the moter mount isnerts i mind as well put them in good use, worst case it’ll still shake like before but i’ll have better control of the car since the engine wo’nt be wobbling…
